Where's Unreal Engine 4?

OnlySP: We’ve seen a ton of great games at E3 this year, as well as a bunch of new game engines showcasing stunning graphics, physics and more. One engine seems to be surprisingly missing from E3 however, Unreal Engine 4.

Thief and Warframe both using Unreal Engine 3 instead of Unreal Engine 4 on PS4. No number 3 on PS4. What a shame ! The infiltrator demo was really next-gen. Unreal Engine is really next-gen if well used. Yes the question, where is that engine? the engine that shines even on the weakest machines. Is the lowest common denominator of this gen not enough to run it so they need to tweak it (meaning make it look worse) to run it? I really hope not.

From what i've seen of other Engines.

It'll be interesting to see how many jump to UNREAL4. Primage Rage early vid looked very nice.

This looks stunning.

i want..."NO DEMAND" a Unreal Tournament game and Gears of War game for the ps4!!!

febreeze14121d ago

I think more publishers are moving towards their own homemade engines. Well at least EA and ubisoft are.

Unreal Engine 4 will come. Most of the games displayed have been in development for 2 years im assuming.

Next year's games will prolly make use of UE4 and also once PC's startpushing again it will show up. Same with newer iterations of Cryengine etc

jakmckratos4121d ago

Im just glad we didn't get just another tech demo at least. Those things piss me off! It's like "Here are some excellent games we should be working on but probably aren't"

Primal Canage Genesis is using Unreal Engine 4. This is an episodic Jurassic Park type game exclusively for PS4. Wonder why it hasn't been shown yet.

Wingsfan244121d ago

I really want to see what becomes of that game. I hope they reboot Turok this generation as well.

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1235d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

Gaming4Life19811236d ago

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

waverider1256d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1256d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1256d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1256d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1256d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1256d ago (Edited 1256d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1256d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1256d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Edit: i misread this.

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
