£349 quid! That's cheap! ANd no restrictions....kudos to Sony for sticking to their guns! Well done.

thorstein4395d ago

You forgot $399 AND if you have Plus DriveClub Plus Edition Day One.

Unreal.

badz1494395d ago

how dare they doubt THE PLAYSTATION?

BISHOP-BRASIL4395d ago

I agree they won, in fact I'm closisng the deal here, definetely going to get a PS4, but one thing got me confused...

When adressing PS+ on PS4, one of the features is multiplayer... Now, my english is not that good so I don't get the whole message, will no longer multiplayer be available to everyone or simple multiplayer sessions are still free? Don't get me wrong, I've been wanting PS+ for quite some time just out of the free games, but it's still not available in my region, hence my concerns...

Saigon4395d ago

I am trying to reserve it now...400$ and no DRM at all...happy gamer day...

All amazing news by Sony, I absolutely cannot wait for the PS4.

abc12334395d ago

Awesome news for DRM, but from Tretton's wording, it seems you'll need PS+ to play online, he said that without PS+ you still be able to enjoy SINGLE player games

longcat4395d ago

it sucks to be forced into it but personally i cant see myself giving up plus anytime soon

Jdoki4395d ago

And a $399 price point frees up some money for PSN+

Software_Lover4395d ago

Either you stand for something or you dont. People cant backtrack now because their "console" of choice does it now.

You guys, not saying you in particular, made a big fuss all gen about xbox live. Now it's okay?

thorstein4395d ago

You get Driveclub Plus Edition day 1 with Plus..

bobtheimpaler4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

@Software_Lover

I'm already on plus and even though online on PS4 needs plus, it's still better value than live. There had to be a concession somewhere I suppose, but the price, the ability for me to take my games over to my friends place without any restrictions, is awesome.

I wish they demoed more first party titles, but we'll just see them in over the next few days anyway. Awesome show.

Mr_Nuts4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

Software Lover

Hey Microsoft changed the rules, it was all about Live this gen but they stepped it up with their own greed and pushed all these other anti consumer stuff into the mix. Either way Sony still has one (and even more) over Microsoft

Sony had to see an income come from somewhere, it was either that or do what MS is doing with used games and being always online.

I'm guessing though unlike MS you will be able to access Netflix and other stuff without plus. You can't even go on Youtube or Facebook without Gold.

HammockGames4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

@ Software Lover

Do you really need a lesson in the differences between Plus and Live?

Online MP is a fraction of what you get with Plus

MikeMyers4395d ago

No DRM but yes, multiplayer now comes with an added fee. Doesn't bother me as I'm a Plus member. The price of the PS4 is excellent as well. 2014 is the year for me to get one. Infamous looks awesome and Gaikai won't be ready until then. Too many PS3 games still to play and I expect game delays on the PS4.

It's so embarrassing on this site at times, look so many of the comments going on and on like a bunch of raving fanboys.

bootsielon4395d ago

@Software_Lover, no it's not suddenly OK, but look at the price difference between MSFT's attempt of a console and Sony's console, and look at the value you get form each. Hell, how many first party games you think Microsoft is going to offer, and how many do you think Sony will offer? How many of MSFT's exclusives do you think will end on Sony's platforms and viceversa? If last gen is anything to go by, as are current trends, then most "exclusives on Xbox" will end on PS4, while some exclusives on PS4 may end on Xbox, but not all of them.

Anyway, If you want free, cheap and low quality online services, go with Nintendo; by the looks of your avatar, I don't think you'd mind using friend codes. After all, as long as they have Zelda and Mario, who gives two damns about everything else right?

Ozmoses4395d ago

no you morons... HE DIDN'T SAY THAT AT ALL!!

alll JACK TRETTON said was HAVING PS+ makes the online experience more optimal

that is all he fucking said...

PSN is free and always has been...

PS+ is optional!!!!

Jdoki4395d ago

IGN are also stating online will need PS+ subscription.

I didn't specifically hear Tretton make the statement, but I'm sure it'll be clarified one way or the other pretty soon.

Ozmoses4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

obviously no one can read between the lines...

he didn't say anything remotely close to only being able to play online with PS+

he was talking about it and a little graphic on the side popped up...

all he said was driveclub for ps+ and 3 of the indie games within the first year...

when he was refering to the PS+ and online, he was referring to the engaging experience PS+ bring to the online user over normal PSN!!!

I understood pretty clearly..

axerated4395d ago

Watch it again bro, he was careful in how he chose his words but he definitely implied you won't play online without plus

Ozmoses4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

"AND THE ABILITY TO EXPERIENCE MORE IMMERSIVE ONLINE GAMEPLAY"

that is exactly what Tretton said...

if you think that means mandatory or required than go for it..

I already have Plus and I'm telling you it doesn't make sense because it SPANS over the PS3,PS4 and the VITA...

they will clear it up tomorrow for sure...

abc12334394d ago

If you still think the same thing after hearing what Tretton said again and being unable to read between the lines as well as failing to read the articles which say the same thing, then I have no use arguing with an imbecile.

NegativeCreep4274395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

Plus if true it stings alot less with Jack T. trolling on MS so F'n hard that the crowd were chanting "Sony, Sony, Sony" during the No Used Games Restrictions segment.

Sony didn't "crumble under the pressure of third-party publishers" like all the Xbots were saying to help justify Microsoft's greedy, opportunistic BS.

Sony won E3, no doubt about it, especially now with the $399 price point.

Jdoki4395d ago

@Software_Lover

It is utter bullshit tbh. Only defense is that new console, new business model.

GribbleGrunger4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

Yes, that's about the only 'negative' thing there was, if you think that getting 40+ PS3 games, 30+ PSVita games and 12 PS4 games a year to enable you to play online, is too much! Not for me. Sony, to use a much overused phrase on here, SMASHED IT! And that David Cage demo! Just WOW.

Double_O_Revan4395d ago

I don't even play multiplayer. I have plus for the Instant game collection and the Cloud Saves.

Yes, I hate the idea of having to pay for multiplayer. A lot of people don't. But I'm already doing it.

Salooh4395d ago

I bet the lag that happened in AC4 and destiny is because they are playing the games on gaikai..

Salooh4395d ago

Just a guess ^^ . They already said that they have a huge library of games for gaikai. They didn't say which games we will be able to play on gaikai so it's a possibility :P . Imagine playing ps4 games on vita by gaikai. Wouldn't that be amazing >.< ..

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK256d ago (Edited 256d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde256d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg256d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi256d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk256d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno256d ago (Edited 256d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Knushwood Butt256d ago

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52256d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624256d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf256d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long256d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

darthv72527d ago

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut85527d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio527d ago (Edited 527d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack527d ago (Edited 527d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander1972527d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff2183526d ago (Edited 526d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim527d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno527d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff2183526d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 526d ago
Chocoburger527d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai527d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC527d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.
