Well that makes perfect sense that the demos are from games that will be released this year so that customers won't have long to wait for them. If the demos were of 2014 games then customers would be waiting months to buy the game they just played.

Exactly, Nintendo wants big holiday sales, so people need to see the wiiu will get games this year, and when people see how fun those games are and see that they are out this year, they will buy it for themselves or kid during the holidays.

I don't think Nintendo will wait to release mario 3D and mario kart after the xmas season, so hopefully those are also playable demos, we should get a pikmin3 demo in the eshop since we waited so long and its almost out.

if true this should prove nintendo actually has games coming this year unlike fanboys trying to say "no games". i'd expect wonderful 101, pikmin, sonic lost words, and mario olympics at bb. maybe 1 surprise

Nintendo is going to install wiiu game kiosks in bestbuy? It seems like nintendo decided to go for some sort of guerilla marketing campaign. Yes, Guerilla, as in Guerilla Games.

You can't do guerilla marketing while the PS4/Xbox are engulfing the entirety of consumer interest and media. Why the exclusion of an actual press conference. Why concede all ground to Sony and Microsoft among the mainstream press, where anyone can easily report on what was seen at the general press conference. Instead nintendo is targeting the same group of people, but in a limited, behind closed doors fashion that will hinder information exchange.

Makes no sense, other than just an absurd switch in strategy as a reactionary tactic to it's current woes. Except it's not an effective strategy, it's just different. Different in a bad way.

They aren't, have you seen they're E3 showroom floor? It's pretty big.

That's why they're putting E3 demos At best buy, having an E3 nintendo direct, holding a smaller journalist press conference, and allowing journalists early access to demos in the showroom floor.

Yes, because catering to the public, journalist, and buissnes men seperatly without doing an embarrassing presentation with paid actors is such A horrible idea!

Well said! You only have to look at the floor-plan of E3 to see Nintendo has the biggest damned stand there! I don't care if they're not having some embarrassing press conference (because lets face it, they're nearly always cringingly terrible) so long as the the information is available on the show floor and via Nintendo Direct (which generate pretty large viewing figures if Youtube and UStream stats are to be believed).

The E3 press conferences are in no way "embarrassing." It's literally the main stage, the superbowl of gaming lol.

To sit there an try to defend the dumbest move in recent history (nintendo conceding their E3 stage presence) is insane lol.

E3 confrences are used to generate immediate press. Closed door conferences mean that you're afraid to compete. That's literally what it means. It's a horrific strategy that's being implemented for the sake of 'switching things up.'

It's not going to work. Do you REALLY think ANYONE is going to leave E3 giving a rats ass about anything nintendo presented? Especially if they don't get hyped in any way for it lol.

Not everyone can be at E3. I sure as hell can't, so being able to play some big, upcoming Nintendo Wii U games in Best Buy is a pretty sweet deal, all things considered.

Also, you wasted your three permitted comments on saying something that quite a few people have said since the announcement of no major E3 press conference from Nintendo, right when those people have started to quiet down. Way to go, soldier.

Anyone who watches e3 will know about Nintendo's plans as well, only gamers watch e3,gamers who will inform themselves either way, its not like average joe will watch e3, it isn't a dumb move at all.Game hype comes from trailers and footage not how they are presented,you are wrong get over it.

Consumers don't care about anything on wiiu, or the console itself. It's trailing the psp in sales. Use E3 as a major spotlight, to showcase the flailing console.

What does nintendo do? Refuse to have a major showcase lol.

They arent conceding anything... They will have 2 private stage shows for gaming media and analysts and allow them to avoid the show floor rush to actually test games...

The people going to the LARGE stage shows are the same people Nintendo invited to the private shows.. So I fail to see how what they are doing is bad? Not having a stage show doesnt mean they wont have a booth ... They will still have a large booth at E3..

Nintendo Direct is replacing their stage show, but for people like me who watch it all online It wont be any different... I will find a stream and watch the show just like every other person online including the media. The good part is they can be in several areas at once ... Iwata can be on a pre recorded Nintendo Direct and on stage during the private shows... They are going to prerecord Nintendo Direct most likely... Also they are using the E3 media rush to post several other Nintendo Directs for their other games.. They wont be restricted to just 1 to 2 hours for a stage show.. they can show as many Nintendo Directs as they want and the media will cover it..

Lets not forget they are demoing games at best buy.. Again they are having 2 small stage shows, a booth, and plenty of Nintendo Directs.. They didnt concede anything they are just going about it a different way.
