Game Positive - Penumbra: Black Plague Review

Black Plague will easily be beaten in around four and half hours by any adventure game veteran. Even those unfamiliar with the genre will find the game goes by far too quickly. Graphically, the game is slightly dated and the gameplay itself is far from flawless, but the ambience will draw you in instantly. Unfortunately, because of its length, even at the price of $20, this can be a bit of a tough purchase for non-adventure fans. Still, Penumbra: Black Plague stands out as one of the better adventure games to be released in quite some time.

Pros: Incredibly immersive; great ambience; interesting play mechanics; improves upon many aspects of its predecessor.

Cons: Far too short; graphics are generally dated.

October Distress Fest: Logan’s Top 5 Horror Games

Well, it’s that time of the year again. Mentions of spooky ghosts and creatures of the night hang in the air, and unknown horrors lurk around every corner.

Fear is one of the best adrenaline rushes you can experience.

I know horror is subjective, but this is quite a .... strange selection of titles here. It seems a bit unfair to limit it to just 5 games.

0ne of the scariest games i have played recently is without a doubt Resident Evil 6.

I was terrified that i had wasted £40 on a crap game.

Spookily i waas correct.

You think that's bad? Imagine my fear when I realized I paid $60 for Resident Evil Raccoon City :0

AnotherProGamer4195d ago

Slender wasn't really that scary

snipab8t4194d ago

It is when you're drunk at like 3am.

Plagasx4194d ago

Where the F*** is the Resident Evil Remake?

dillhole4194d ago

Slender is scary for the first few minutes. Then you see the guy and it kinda kills it. It's hard to be realistically scared in a game where you get to respawn each time you die. The reason films successfully achieve horror is that you connect with the characters and once they're dead, they're dead.

Yeah, but films aren't as scary as games. Games can still scare me. No movie even sort of scares me.

Letros4926d ago

Stalker is missing, typical bad list.

IrishAssa4926d ago

Yeah Stalker has some scary parts that far surpass almost every game on the list too

arnyftw4926d ago

Frightening? Lol left 4 dead 2 isnt frightening, its boring, I preferred l4d1

iNcRiMiNaTi4926d ago

Left 4 Dead 2 and Resident Evil 5? Really?
Where's Fatal Frame or Siren? Or since they have Doom 3 take it back to Silent Hill or something.
