'Olympus is God of All PSP titles' - God of War: Chains of Olympus Review by Canada

Canada writes:

"Not as a slight against Sony's PSP (I really do love mine), but we'd come to expect a certain quality from it, and equated its processing power somewhere between the original PlayStation and a PS2.

Even when console franchises such as Grand Theft Auto, Splinter Cell and Daxter pushed the handheld to its seeming limits, their PSP ports weren't as fun and immersive as their PS2 incarnations, and we accepted that as a limitation of the machine."

Agree 100% with this reviewer. Right now am playing it and I can't stop playing that mini-sex game. Is addictive as hell.

With that said, I cannot wait for GOW for PS3. It will be awesome in all areas.

Canada is law, Canada say GoWCOO rocks and you all obey!!

anybody beat charon yet? the ferry for the dead part... ive tried so many times already and i keep dying... oh and im on spartan mode

Marceles6279d ago

That guy is easy...your first encounter with him, you're supposed to die after you beat him up for a little while...he'll go onto the side of the screen and charge up a green ray that zaps all of your life away.

The second encounter, keep parrying (push L)(or jump over) his 3-slice attack and slice him, parry the fireballs he throws and throw them back at him...you'll know he's about to throw fireballs when he teleports away from you, i think half-way through the fight he'll start doing an earth wave attack in which you just jump over it and attack him...you'll have to be quick though because he either throws energy balls at you or does the wave move, so you could be close to him but he'll throw the energy balls, when he goes all the way to the right side of the screen to regenerate, you have to break those power columns under him to make him stop...he'll continue attacking you again then go back the right side again...once you take about all of his life and break all of the columns under him, you'll have to do an active time battle where you push the correct buttons (great part btw)...then you're done.

It's been sitting in my PSP since last night, but hadn't had a chance to play it yet.

Man, this game must be just melting off the store shelves...went to two two large Wal-Marts...both of which dedicated three whole rows of behind-glass shelves completely splashed with the GoW advertisement from top-to bottom...all gone.

And it must have had a positive effect on PSP console sales as well, because both locations were almost completely sold out of those too!

Finally picked it up at a local EB Games.

Wait...umm, what am I doing here???...

Gonna go commence play...NOW!!!

Ranking the God of War Games

Kratos has been on a rampage, killing Gods in epic battles since 2005. With each release managing to offer high-octane action, I explore each God of War title and rank every adventure from his journey to Olympus to his Norse tales of fatherhood.

I won’t rank Ragnarok just yet, although it is honestly leaving me and my wife blown away…won’t go into details right now, not done as I assume others aren’t either, maybe some of you are, idk haha.

But here’s how I rank them

5. God of War 3
4. God of War Ascension.
3. God of War 1.
2. God of War 2.
1. God of War 2018.

MrNinosan920d ago

My same ranking exactly, with Ragnarök at #1.

ClayRules2012919d ago

Wow, that’s pretty interesting that someone has the same ranking as me haha. So, did you beat Ragnarok? I assume so with you placing it at #1

Flawlessmic920d ago

1. God of war 3
2. God of war 2018
3. God of war 2
4. God of war 1

Haven't played the others but about 30 hrs In to ragnarock now so safe to say if it keeps up it will end up being at the top of my list when I'm done.

CrimsonWing69920d ago

I will say the pacing of the original titles and the epic feel to them I feel is way better than the new one’s. Like, I could recognize and appreciate the praise God of War received, but it bores me to tears except for the pivotal moments.

However, that being said I feel Ragnarok is waaaaay better than 2018. I’m only on Ch. 6, but it’s pretty much rocked my face off from the get-go.

I’m really split between this being my GotY or Elden Ring.

I think different games in the series had different strengths but all are great. I liked the original as it was an origin story and the mechanics were fresh. The sequel added smoother gameplay. Three was just so far ahead of it's time graphically it wasn't even funny. Plus great gameplay and bosses and insane gore and nice use of sexy time. The reboot was cool but lost a lot of what I liked about the original trilogy (I don't need my games grown up, just fun). Will wait and see with ragnarok as haven't had time to play it yet.

BLG writes: "After many rumors, PlayStation has finally announced its new subscription service. With it comes the promise of over 340 PS Plus games to play on the highest subscription tier. We can expect to see games from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations plus cloud streaming of PS3 games."

Should change that headline to: "Old School Titles We Definitely Aren't Going to Get In the New PS Plus Subscription"

roadkillers1138d ago

Honestly, I would be surprised to see a lot of the first party titles let alone the third party. If Sony wants to knock it out of the park, add some of these.

BrainSyphoned1138d ago

Rising Zan because Pushman is the best voice acted boss in the history of gaming.

Konami RPGs---Ring of Red, Azure Dreams and Suikoden.

Thousand Arms, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Persona 1, both Persona 2 and Persona 3 from Atlus.
Any of those would make me happy. Ogre Battle and Azure Dreams the happiest.

Knushwood Butt1138d ago

Did you see the news about Tactics Ogre Reborn?

Big fan of Tactics Ogre but have it on Vita and Vita TV.

Puty1138d ago

I wonder if the ps1 games will have trophies.

Ron_Danger1138d ago (Edited 1138d ago )

Most likely not… however Sony did patent (a few years ago) a method of adding trophies to ps2 games based on where on the disc information was being read from (basically t detected when it was loading a new level which would trigger the trophy). I’m assuming they used that tech when they started selling ps2 games for PS4.

jznrpg1138d ago

There were specific trophies too not just level based if I remember correctly .

Ready4nxtgen1138d ago

Parasite eve 1 and 2
Thank you kindly.

CrimsonWing691138d ago

Actually let’s put all Squaresoft PS1 and PS2 games on it. I’d gladly pay for the service for just that.

z2g1138d ago (Edited 1138d ago )

PlayStation community before:
We don’t buy new consoles to play old games.

PlayStation community now:
Here’s a list of old games we wanna play now that we might be able to on our new consoles

Bathyj1138d ago

Actual PlayStation gamers: Old games are important we know because we have more history and heritage in gaming than anyone but Nintendo, but we're not going to yell and boast about it at a consoles launch to gloss over having no games for a year and lacklustre output for a decade. .

There, fixed it for you.

1138d ago
MrNinosan1138d ago

I haven't seen anyone from the Playstation Community talk and discuss about games we might get with PS+ Premium. Who do you refer to?
Cause bosslevelgamer ain't the Playstation Community if that's what you thought.

jznrpg1138d ago (Edited 1138d ago )

Old games are great from PS but MS doesn’t have the library anywhere close . I only kept a small amount of games from Xbox OG and 360 . Magna Carta , Blue Dragon , Lost Remnant , Morrowind , Witcher 2 and Jade Empire (which i didn’t care for much) I have 100s of PS games I kept over the PS1/2 alone that I love I have a large PS3 library too .
The main reason BC isn’t the biggest deal is if your using it because you aren’t releasing new games and your older library isn’t very good .
It’s a nice bonus feature but not a main feature at all . It doesn’t replace new games and MS still hasn’t released much to this day . Sure it’s coming we have heard that for a decade or more but old games dont fill the void especially with the lackluster first party from MS . There’s a reason why you can buy old MS games cheap because there is little demand for them even before gamepass gave them away for a little while . Go try and buy any PS1 game PS2 game your going to spend a ton of $$

FinalFantasyFanatic1138d ago

This exactly, the Playstation had a killer library of games in the PS1/PS2 days, and there's quite a few gems even in the PS3 days that we can't easily play. Those PS1/PS2 games are enough for me to fork out for the service, although I'd rather buy the games outright digitally. There's also alot of classics I missed out on the first time that I would love to play, especially JRPGs.

S2Killinit1137d ago (Edited 1137d ago )

Actual PlayStation gamers: old games and subscription services are not the selling point of a console.

MrBeatdown1137d ago

Imagine being so dense that you can't grasp the idea that 100+ million PlayStation owners don't all share the same opinion.
