Why can't they put the controls on the headset? If the remote ends up damaged... what then? Why are most of the of mike booms on these kind of headphones so obvious? If bluetooth ear pieces can make them nearly unnoticeable, then why can't gaming headsets do the same?

Modular designs cost a bit more money I'd imagine. Look at the MLG Pro 360 controller, has many different parts, but costs about $100.

I'm not really asking for a modular set. I just wondering why they make can't integrate the mike better. If bluetooth headsets with nearly invisible mikes can garner such incredibly crisp audio. Why do these headset which cost hundreds, have mikes that protrude so far.

I don't get it? I thought advancing technology was supposed to make things smaller not larger.
