Halo 4 is this week’s number one but fails to break the sales of previous iterations in the series.
. . . In the UK
still part of this world.
With video game sales down worldwide and Call of Duty Black Ops II releasing tomorrow, I think it'll be very hard for Halo 4 to sell as well as Halo 3 or even Halo Reach
Don't Halo and a COD title always end up releasing near eachother? Seems like they both always come out in november. Black ops 2 is set to be the biggest seller yet but Im just saying halo is always competing with it and it does reeeeally well compared to any other game that gets put up against this juggernaut.
Yes, the UK. As the article's title and picture would suggest.
People are getting tired of Halo. Call of Duty is king now. It has been for years.
Tired???...u do realize that COD lunch every year? we only have 5 Major Halo Lunches in 10 years. PLUS Halo is Major market is US and it's already break record in that market.
Just checked some data Halo 3=15th,Halo:Reach=12th Reach=380k,around 20k more than 3=360k,since chart-track( http://www.chart-track.co.u... said it sold slightly more than AC3(AC3=around 333k),Halo 4 should be around 340k Decent sales, not really lower, but little surprised Reach>Halo 3 in UK launch week
The xbox 360 install base has only gotten bigger since Reach, and since 3 massively. However I think a fair amount of people held off from Halo 4 as it is muchly similar to previous iterations and maybe waiting for the price to drop to justify it. I know I am, after buying every Halo on launch including the first on xbox I decided I can wait now. I used to be a massive Halo fan but the sheen has just come off just a teeny bit for me personally. I am quite sure I will pick it up and play it but not on launch this time for me.
@Vulcan As someone who has also bought all Halo's at launch, in my opinion this is the best Halo yet. Armor customization, commendations, daily/weekly/monthly challenges, make for a great multiplayer and the campaign, while short, fits perfectly. I'm all for waiting for price drops, but I think you're missing out.
no worries! http://www.cinemablend.com/...
As a UK gamer I suspect that people are being careful with their purchases just before xmas. I've bought Forza Horizon and pre ordered Blops2 as there were good deals to be had. I want AC3 and Halo 4 but as there is so much going down with the two ive got I made the decision to put the otheres on my xmas list. If im lucky I will get one or both as xmas presents. If not then I'll hopefully get them at a lower cost after xmas and once ive finished horizon and blops2. plenty of choice at the moment. I'm also busy with Battlefield 3, Trials Evolution Origin of Pain and Forza 4. happy days ;-)
It isn't like it didn't surpass all of them in sales worldwide though, I suspect Halo 4 will have legs throughout the rest of the year and into next year. I was actually surprised it outdid all the other Halo games like it did, mostly because BO2 and AC3 launched around the same time.
The U.S. is the most important market for Halo 4
Agreed. Halo sells more in the US and the rest of the world is just gravy for the profit margin. Halo 4 for me was the best Halo in every area. Kudos 342 AWESOME GAME!
Halo 4 failed when they made the huge mistake of further going the way of COD in essentially making the focus of the game be about the Multi-Player Aspect. Halo 1 had no console multiplayer & so it gained its noteriety & fame from the Sp Campaign & its gameplay, NOT Multiplayer. This shift in focus is the Kiss of Death for the Halo Franchise, now its just another wannabe COD Clone. 6 hour SP Campiagn? really Microsoft?, ok, F U also , as in I refuse to purchase this game , until I find it used for around $20-$25 bucks. Its not worth $60. Not only that but alot of the plot in the story can only be flesh out by finding those "computer" thingys & going to Halo waypoint to read them lol, you need to have a Gold membership on Xbox Live just to access Halo Waypoint. So in essence Microsoft has DRM'd Halo 4's SP Campaign, another tragic mistake, I will NEVER go along with DRM, I dont give 2cents about Online Gaming Period. And Im only interested in games I can play essentially OFF LINE at leisure, & when I say so, not some Corporate Greedy types telling me when or how to game, what to like about gaming etc.
Cool story bro
