Top Three Reason Wii-U Will Suck-Yo

By SoldierX

The Wii U hype machine is in full swing and before you go and spend all of your gold coins on the new system find out why I think it might be a better idea to go and do your gaming at another castle. Here are my top three reasons why the Wii-U will suck-yo.

Is it a portable or is it a console? Should you play on the TV or play on the tablet? What has Nintendo really been telling us from day one? That they don’t know what the Wii-U will become once it’s in the consumer living room. Bad strategy Big N, this double marketing plot is only confusing all those non-savvy goombas in their gigantic market. Soccer Mom is not going to know wether she’s buying a Super Mario iPad or a Wii 2 for the kids and when she talks to the gamer wearing a Best Buy or GameStop t-shirt they’re probably gonna tell her to pick up an Xbox 360 it’s cheaper, has more games and comes with Kinect. Mom’s love Kinect.

Use the word "retarded" not once, but three times in your article and it's no longer an opinion piece, it's someone's bowel movement on a website. This piece has no merit whatsoever and is just pure, flamebait nonsense.

I think wii-u will sell like hot cakes initially but won't be constantly sold out like the Wii was.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4378d ago

I don't think the Wii-U will enjoy the same success as the Wii, but I could be wrong.

I predict that all the casuals who enjoy the Wii will not feel the need to upgrade to a new system. Will just dance be any different on the Wii-U to justify the new console? People already have the Wii-fit board etc. The casual players are clearly not graphic whores and the capabilities of the Wii-U are not going to make much of a difference to them since they seem to enjoy the really casual and simplistic art style of the Wii games.

I really just don't see why there is a need to upgrade for them. The new feature is basically catering to the tablet trend, but will it be enough when people could potentially just opt to buy a tablet instead?

Time will tell, but I am simply looking forward to the Nintendo first party software. Can't wait to pick one up. I doubt I will be an early adopter, though.

darthv724378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

that really depends on their marketing. Looking back at the wii, it mostly sold via word of mouth and user experience.

Nintendo knows this product is much better than a wii. so how do they tell the existing customers that? It is a long shot that they would even offer some type of trade in program. Keep the games and accessories and just trade in the base unit for $50 off the price of a wii-u.

Or perhaps they can advertise that the wii-u plays all the wii games and accessories..BUT WAIT...there's more! Honestly i dont know what they have in mind. I mean the only ones that really know anything are the ones that really follow gaming trends.

The old folks homes and soccer mom's arent inclined to be on n4g or kotaku every day. No doubt the wii-u is a huge step up from their previous efforts.

Nintendo...(in case you are reading this) you dont need to preach to the choir. You need to preach to everyone else.

ChickeyCantor4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

"I predict that all the casuals who enjoy the Wii will not feel the need to upgrade to a new system"

Why? Apple seem to hook people like that.
In the latest brochures here in the Netherlands it's promoted as an "HD Nintendo console".

"I really just don't see why there is a need to upgrade for them. "

I don't get why they are so stoked for the iPad and iPhone honestly but look at that sh/t go.

N64378d ago

The Wii was opposite in that it picked up momentum, but Wii U will start off hot. It'll be interesting, something that starts on fire has higher expectations, which may lead to disappointment. There's a chance Wii U can flop.

However, based on what we know, this is the "safest" console released by Nintendo since SNES, its pretty much guaranteed to be a hit. Not necessarily the best or most selling, but Nintendo + HD + new innovation for home consoles + BC, should get it to at least 65-70 mil LTD, which is very good. Wii U has a chance to even outsell original NES.

I'm so sick of seeing these half assed "doom" articles. If you're afraid to attach your real name to an article, perhaps you should rethink your article. I have no doubt the Wii-U will be just find this holiday season. Did anyone even read this article before it was approved?

"Is it a potable or a console?" - Don't be an idiot.

Then he moans about the lack of the Wii-mote, which is still supported and claims " Sure the Wii-Mote turned into a flying vibrator at times."
- Don't be an idiot.

And finally "It’s last gen tech." - Don't be an idiot.

The guy uses "retarded" not once, not twice but three times in this article. The only thing I see here matching that description would be this author and the douchebags that approved this flamebait nonsense.

Edit: Don't forget to down-vote these sites right under the "Read Full Story" link. If we can't stop idiots from approving this tripe, at least we can have the quality filter take some of these sites out.

AmayaAi4378d ago

Will suck or not, Nintendo knows how to sell their stuff. Specially new products!

Gazondaily4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

I remain optimistic about the Wii U- it could be a brilliant machine. If anyone can tap into the potential the hardware affords, its Nintendo and they won't go about doing it in an obvious way either.

Off-topic- send me the pic in your avatar!

claud34378d ago

One thing this article sucks.

The Wii U will sell well and its up to the gamers judgement for how the console pans out for them

guitarded774378d ago

No joke... I knew it was a suckfest from the title, but I decided to read it anyway before I criticized. I should have just went with intuition and knew that it sucked without reading it. Lame excuses with no substance to back up their claims. Just a hater hating.

Moonman4378d ago

The console isn't confusing anyone. It's backwards compatible with wii software and controllers. Need I say more? Get ready for tears.

Grenade4378d ago

There's no need to cry over it.
Do you want a hug?

Neonridr4378d ago

This article is written by an idiot. He actually believes that the Wii U is less powerful than the 360 and significantly less powerful than the PS3. First off, the 360 and PS3 are basically on even ground, all the comparisons between games are usually almost identical. Secondly, we know for a fact that the Wii U GPU is significantly more powerful than either of the two current gen systems. The CPU is in question right now, but even with a lower clocked CPU, the fact that it is newer in design means the architecture will be more streamlined. We are already seeing proof of this with launch games at 1080p. All this while extra information is being streamed to the gamepad on top of that. This article is completely a fanboy's view and one that should be taken with a grain of salt.

Ye, Custom Robo Arena was a lot better than Pokemon anyways, now that's a game.

Eonjay4d ago

Interestingly this comes like a day after they announced they would be at the Tokyo Games Show.

Vits4d ago

We should all really hope so. Otherwise, this could lead to many issues, as they hold patents on numerous game mechanics. And when I say numerous, I truly mean it. Take this one, for example:

"Abstract: In an example of a game program, a ground boarding target object or an air boarding target object is selected by a selection operation, and a player character is caused to board the selected boarding target object. If the player character aboard the air boarding target object moves toward the ground, the player character is automatically changed to the state where the player character is aboard the ground boarding target object, and brought into the state where the player character can move on the ground."

In plain English, do you guys remember that super amazing mechanic where you surf on the water with a Pokémon, and then when you hit land, it changes to you walking? Yeah, they patented that.

porkChop4d ago

A patent lawsuit? What Pokémon-related patent could Palworld even be infringing that other similar games haven't? This makes no sense. Feels like Nintendo just trying to throw its weight around to bully competitors, just like they do with emulators even though they're legal.

Kaii4d ago

They can't Innovate their own IP, but when others are breaking the ceiling, they run to the courts, gtfo Nintendo/Gamefreak.

Companies' gatekeeping mechanics behind the patent system to stifle innovation, consumers will always pick the better product, it's not the consumer's fault that Gamefreak has sat on their lazy assess for years.

Kornholic4d ago

"Consumers will always pick the better product"

Since when?

swedishMeatwad3d ago

You can't argue with _subjective_ taste. Some people are going to like games you find crappy. I'm happy not everyone has the same taste.

Kornholic3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@swedishMeatwad

PS5 Pro is obviously objectively the better product when compared to the base PS5, but the majority of consumers interested in a PS5 will not be picking Pro over base PS5.

There are countless examples like this out there.

The_Blue4d ago

Rather you like it or not COD has many accessible options and customization that allows for better experience than most other FPS.

Knightofelemia4d ago

The Palworld has been out since January of 2024 and now Nintendo finally decides to do something. I fail to see how Palworld is like Pokemon besides evolving monsters. There are other games out there as well where you can capture and level up monsters. Tales of Symphonia 2 does that capture monsters and have them fight with you and they evolve when levelling up. The two games might share some similarities but what game doesn't borrow from another game. I could understand if Palworld was just a straight on copy clone of Pokemon but it's not. Nintendo is starting to become a pain in the ass. Going full gung ho with rom sites that I can see, purposely taking down pictures from a strategy guide for Mario 64 the strategy guide never came to North America and Nintendo had the pictures taken down. Where does it every stop with Nintendo?

babadivad4d ago

Monsters don't evolve in Palworld

Software_Lover4d ago

It's because Palworld became a worldwide viral success. Nintendo can't fathom someone else being that popular when it comes to a small monster catching game.

VersusDMC4d ago

Nintendo is only acting now because they just finished a lawsuit which they won.

https://www.nintendolife.co...

Atlus should get on this and sue Nintendo as SMT came out before Pokemon. If Nintendo is going to play this game.

isarai4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

This feels like a scare tactic more than anything else. There's nothing here dozens of other games haven't already done, they're just mad this game showed people how much the pokemon series has been slackin and are desperately trying to make an example out of them.

How's about instead of spending all that money on court fees and lawyers you invest it into making pokémon better?

Profchaos4d ago

I think if it was a scare tactic it would have happened when the game came out I have a feeling they've been building a case for a while

isarai4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

It did happen even before the game came out, they tried several tomes before and nothing came of it

Profchaos4d ago

I was pretty sure the only statement they made was they would investigate

If Square Enix & Nintendo are his hometown what does that make Xbox?

OtterX15d ago

The red light district, where games go to w**** themselves for Gamepass cash.

Asterphoenix15d ago

Well Nintendo and Squaresoft is where he started. I totally understand why he doesn't want to do FF now. If so I'm happy for either a remaster of Last Story or a new entry/spiritual successor. Loved the battle system of Last Story.

porkChop15d ago

I just really want a new Lost Odyssey, or even a proper remaster with some QoL updates. Though I'd also love to see him work with Square on a new IP.

Profchaos15d ago

That's about as good as a confirmation that we will see ports to the switch2

Knightofelemia15d ago

Wish my parents bought me a NES as a kid I would have played the first FF game. But I was lucky to have a SNES I played a bit of FF6 and just went to Chrono Trigger. When the FF collection releases I-VI Collection Anniversary drops I will take my time to play each Final Fantasy.

Deathdeliverer15d ago

I mean… this is kinda obvious. The original final fantasy and its early sequels were on…
