Apparently “Skyrim Lydia Hot” Is a Thing, and It Might Even Be Trending

Geekparty: I was attempting to kill some time by searching for some hilarious Skyrim videos on YouTube the other day when an interesting trend was brought to my attention. You see, I typed in the words “Skyrim Lydia” into the YouTube search box, and one of the auto-fill options was “Skyrim Lydia hot.” This means that enough people have actually used “Skyrim Lydia hot” as search parameters that YouTube decided there’s a fair chance that this is what people who search for Skyrim are looking for. Enough people that there’s an auto-fill option for that, anyway.

I couldn't be bothered to put up with the companions in Skyrim (or most games where it's optional, for that matter), mules be damned. Besides, who wants to share the glory?

Nimblest-Assassin4638d ago

I never took her on any quests... because the ai in skyrim were already pissing me off..

I can't imagine babysitting one

Just left her in breezehome

beckerist4638d ago

It's less about glory-sharing and more about getting in trouble. If I have to sneak into somewhere, I'm trespassing. 99% of the time I can sneak right to where I need to go. With the companion, they just barge right through calling attention to me.

fossilfern4638d ago

This isnt much of a spoiler but the follower you end up getting in Dawnguard is actually useful. I liked to go it alone but now I have my companion with me all the time

Shadonic4638d ago

would of just liked it better if co - op was implemented in a sense were your friend would take the place of your companion with items from there own game that they had on at the last time they played.

All these Skyrim memes seem so forced and manufactured compared to "The cake is a lie" and other past videogame memes. Skyrim is less overrated than some games people have fallen all over themselves to praise this gen, but it's still a bit overrated.

I used companions through the majority of the game, but I wouldn't have if sneaking was my thing. As for shared glory, that makes no sense because you get all the glory and reward anyway.

The Elder Scrolls games could be so much better, but as long as Bethesda keeps getting such praise ( Dev of the Year ) for delivering a buggy game at launch ( it was very buggy across all platforms at launch so don't bother with the "maybe buggy on PS3" crap ) the series will never be what it could be. Player choice needs to play a larger role, and the impact of those decisions needs to be felt. Nothing extra is needed except changes to AI and more voice acting to reflect the various options. Give me that and better animations instead of the overrated dragons any day.

JoshEngen4638d ago

This is one of the best comments I've ever read. Seriously.

math4638d ago

I think this comment might deserve some praise, but its still overrated.

It's a valid point that the author makes, but without more explanation of how gamers can actually do something about this, it'll never be the kind of comment that deserves actual universal praise.

Give me that, and better more fleshed out examples of other past videogame memes.

Speak for yourself..far from overrated.Game was and still an Epic masterpiece..period.

Betheseda deseves ALL the praise and accolades they received.

Engrossed millions into an amazing world and you can scream bugs all day, but I know I didn't have ONE bug on the 360 that took ANYTHING away from the experience.

IMO..not only GOTY..it ranks up there with the Elite for ANY gen.

SilentNegotiator4638d ago

.....but.....but "the cake is a lie" was LITERALLY manufactured. And put on freaking shirts.

Ser4638d ago

What a fantastic comment...completely devoid of fanboy gushing.

Have a well said bubble.

-Gespenst-4637d ago

Memes are all forced and manufactured these days, there's a rush to make as many memes as possible out of stuff. They're so ubiquitous that the idea of a meme is actually becoming stale to me, not just individual ones.

It's the obnoxious captions that really annoy me, they ruin so many funny things.

And yeah, Skyrim is a bit overrrated. Those games NEED better animation. All the story action that happens is just laughable. The dialogue is great, but the shoddy animations just spoil it all. The big pay offs in the story are always so impotent.

I honestly think Deus Ex Human Revolution was GOTY last year, not Skyrim.

ghettosmurf4637d ago

Great comment, but I did want to point out that when I mentioned 'shared glory,' it was a bit tongue-in-cheek, emphasizing the role-playing aspect of the game is all.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher12d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast10d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic10d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee11d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator11d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast10d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
