Sound. So often sidelined when reviewing games, yet it’s amazing how much difference it can make to an experience. Much of Arkham City’s atmosphere and wonder is owed to the fantastic score and exemplary sound design. Dead Space would be nothing without its eerie soundscapes, the Ishimura simply a dead ship without its creaking and groaning and breathing. Many of us are content to play our games on HDTVs which, on average, have awful speakers.
