Mass Effect 3′s new ending is mostly satisfying

After spending some time with Mass Effect 3's new ending, it seems like the extended cut is at the very least, mostly satisfying.

I've still yet to see the original ending. I should probably get on that...

WolfLeBlack4472d ago

You're better of just downloading the Extended Cut ending anyway, mate, since it makes the games original ending a bit pointless to view, unless you're wanting to go and see what all the fuss was about, of course.

Pushagree4471d ago

I can't beleive people even bought into this. Bioware makes a terrible ending on purpose in order to sell you DLC to get the "real" ending? Not even Activision could sink that low.

FrightfulActions4471d ago

I think you're gravely misinformed of the dlc. The Extended Cut dlc, the 'real ending' stuff? Yeah... it's free. It's an almost-2gb free DLC for all consoles. Though if they did charge for it, you'd be totally right.

Did they charge my credit card and I not know about it! 0.0

...It's a figure of speech, people. Pushagree is saying that you're gullible.

Still felt a bit copy and pasted with none of the war assets making a difference.

War assets represent Shepard's will and ability when it comes to the Catalyst, so they actually do make a difference. It would have been cool to really see them in action though.

Worst dialogue ever.

A trilogy that is heavily based in player choice and advertised that way by Bioware and in the end none of the choices made in 3 games, i repeat 3 games, had impact in the conclusion of it cant never be satisfying. I played Mass Effect for its story and to see how our choices would affect the story and that was taken away from me the moment i was forced to choose an ending, nullfying all the choices i had made in the whole trilogy up until that moment. The whole appeal of a 60 hour franchise ruined in its last minute and that is something that a few cutscenes wont fix.

Dravidian4471d ago

I thought the cutscenes added elements to the ending based on the decisions you made across 3 games.....unless I'm missing something. Feel free to correct me.

FrightfulActions4471d ago

Not really. Well, maybe a hairs worth. You get to see a still artistic image of Zaeed and Kasumi, for example, if they survived ME2. But it's such a small little thing that it isn't really worth mentioning.

The added cutscenes are mostly just clarification of events. Original Ending Questions: "How did my ground team get aboard the Normandy? Why is the Normandy escaping? How will they get off the garden world? Why didn't exploding relays kill everyone like in The Arrival? How did Hackett know Shepard made it to the Citadel?"

Those were answered with a little bit of cutscenes. Well, it kinda answered the exploding relay... Not really. They made them just get damaged, not explode. Of course I think they still CAN explode if you play the game horribly enough and have low enough score. No explanation on how the resulting blast still doesn't cause another Arrival scenario galaxy-wide though. Regardless, the content just clarifies the original endings. It doesn't really add elements from the past games into it, unless you consider brief screenshots of old crew mates to be significant enough to count.

Now, if only they can do this to crappy games.

He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.
