Would the wii u not support what is probably going to be the most used engine engine next gen

Acquiescence4768d ago

and continuing to rely on gimmicks, this time a tablet controller. It's the Wii all over again.

oricon4768d ago (Edited 4768d ago )

How is what Nintendo doing mega safe i would argue Microsoft and Sony will be playing mega safe as that their new consoles are most likely going to just be the same thing as before just a more powerful machine instead of changing how games are played.

Just how like the Wii was a big risk that paid off everyone here probably hates the Wii but you cannot deny that it was a big risk on Nintendo's part to not create a system with great graphics like ps3 and xbox 360 and stick to last gen hardware and do away with traditional control as the main playstyle.

TheBlackSmoke4768d ago (Edited 4768d ago )

Erm No, the wii was completely safe because they were using gamecube tech which cost next to nothing to manufacture, they made profit from the very first wii they sold.

Look at what trouble sony faced because they tried to future proof the PS3 as much as possible. they sold at a loss for a few years and then reaped the rewards in the long run and because of that risk blu-ray has been established as the standard for now and the future, to me that takes guts especially when sony could of easily pulled the same shit as Nintendo because the PS2 annihilated everything last gen.

What does the wii have to show for itself in 2012? It didn't change the way we play games because everyone still prefers a control pad, its catalogue is 99% shovelware shit and its sales have DECLINED year on year whilst the PS3 and 360 have grown. Casuals who were drawn in by their gimmicks wont be so willing to drop money on wii 2 as easily as nintendo thinks.

Nintendo are simply trying to repeat what they did with the wii but its going to backfire.

Infernostew4767d ago

If so, there goes the 3rd party support.

MurDocINC4768d ago

No biggie, UE3 still has alot of kick in it. Plus we won't see UE4 in games for atleast another 2-3years. When we do I doubt it will be a huge leap forward. I except nothing more than fancy shaders which games will make limited use of.

CashColeTrain13374768d ago (Edited 4768d ago )

It is confirmed nothing but the PC supports it at the moment. No Nextbox, no PlayStation Next, and no WiiU. Just because it isn't supporting it yet doesn't mean it won't in the future. PC is the only thing we'll see anything from Unreal 4.

Yangus4768d ago

This true?
Failure and sad...UE4..most used engine X720/ps4 games....

Moncole4768d ago

They already said it will. And this isn't news.

PopRocks3594767d ago

That was just rumored. Though people should not take this as a confirmation.

Said it before and I'll say it again; wait for E3. We're less than a week off so crazy rumors will come out of nowhere for a while. It wouldn't surprise me if the day before Nintendo's conference an anonymous developer would come out and say the Wii U is less powerful than a Nintendo 64.

And the crazies here would believe it too.

Rampaged Death4768d ago

It's obviously not powerful enough. Why is this coming as a surprise ?

yabhero4767d ago

That not obvious ... It's just an assumption made by some fanboys...

Wow! That is badass. WB needs to make this happen now.

Right? Thanks for checking it out!

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1504d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

Gaming4Life19811504d ago

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

1525d ago Replies(2)
waverider1525d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1525d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1525d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1525d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1525d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1525d ago (Edited 1525d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1524d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1524d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Amplitude1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

Edit: i misread this.
N4G really needs a delete comment button lol

Einhander19711523d ago

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
