Back in 2009 a game called inFAMOUS was released. I was somewhat skeptical but the reviews poured in claiming it to be an outstanding game. I said to myself "why not", went to the nearest gaming retailer, and purchased my copy. 15 hours later I put down the controller.
Needless to say I was blown away by the game. The story was good but it was the gameplay that really hooked me. It was one of the first open world "cape" games to actually impress me(and is probably one of the reasons I read so many comics now).
inFAMOUS 2 greatly surpasses it's predecessor. With improved gameplay, more powers, and a graphical overhaul it stands head and shoulders above inFAMOUS. Cole McGrath, the "Eletric Man", returns to face his destiny and confront The Beast.
The first thing you'll notice when starting inFAMOUS is the graphics. Improvements across the board have made the game much easier to look at. Pop-in has been reduced, the frame-rate is usually solid, and the character models are finally fully motion captured and detailed.
However, this is what you expect from a sequel. What I did not expect was how much better the story was. The concept for it was fairly simple. Prepare for The Beast. But things are rarely that direct. You'll be dealing with the militia/police power struggle, conspiracies, and swamp monsters. And when the game ends, it sure does end. Recently I've been disappointed with the endings of games(Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 to be precise). But, inFAMOUS 2 builds up just right and brings you to a climactic end.
Gameplay is close to the same of the first game but with improvements here in there. An excellent addition to Cole is his new melee weapon called the Amp. Using it to strike down your enemies is quite visceral and rewarding. The new powers seem to distribute evenly across karmic states with evil karma focusing on combat and good karma focusing on movement. However, you're still stuck in a black or white world. No grey area to really explore.
To extend the life of the game Sucker Punch has included the UGC online component. This is less of a multiplayer and more of a level sharing mechanism. The tools to create these levels(much like LBP) are a little difficult to work with but once more people get a grip on them we'll see tons of great content.
inFAMOUS 2 is not just an excellent open world experience, It's a fantastic story. It's a ton of fun. It's a game to be remembered. It's twice as bright.
Fans of the action-adventure franchise have been eagerly awaiting news of a potential sequel to one of the best games on the PS4.
How would fans feel about a reboot? You know to bring a new audience in? Not a good idea? Good idea?
Second Son was released in 2014 was an amazing game visually and gameplay wise, sometimes I play it again on the PS5 and seeing it run at 60 fps is something to behold(yes an almost 10 year old game), if you haven't done that on your PS5 try it you won't be disappointed, pure eye candy, a PS5 exclusive of Infamous would be amazing no doubt.
From Xfire: "For a company with a three-decade-long history in gaming, Sony has done a crappy job at preserving its legacy. "
All the mgs games, all the ape escapes, silent hill 1-4, croc 1 and 2, legend of dragoon, tekken 3,tenshu, bushido blade, vagrant story, okami, ico, crash bash, gt4.
Thats just off the top of my head that i would play immediately, still so many more though that id love.
Folklore. It was such a unique and beautiful game. Great soundtrack. I still have my PS3 copy
Infamous 1 & 2 probably will get remaster for PS5/4 at some point as for the others in that article idk
A brand new version of the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3, brings major graphical improvements in Metal Gear Solid 4, inFamous 2, Ninja Gaiden & more.
If the PC can emulate the PS3, then for sure the PS5 would be able to do same. but dose Sony want it?
Any ps3 owner has too own this masterpiece . My disk drive has just gone on my old super slim . So I bought the digital version no questions ask . If you have a ps3 own this masterpiece that’s all I can say . I replay it every year and still find loads of enjoyment . The last true metal gear in my opinion . V was good and gameplay amazing , but it’s just not a metal gear quality story wise .
good review, im waiting to see what the community will come up with the ugc
Very well-written, straight to the point and informative. I agree with most of what you said and i like the "twice as bright" bit at the end!
