Luckily, the Ultrahand ability is an unmissable one as it’s unlocked as you enter the first of three shrines required to complete The Closed Door main questline. This quest is given near the start of the game on the Great Sky Islands.

After speaking to Rauru at the start, you’ll be shown the location of the first of three shrines you’ll have to visit. This Shrine is called the Ukouh Shrine and can be found west of the Temple of Time.

Reach there, and head inside the shrine by interacting with the structure near the entrance. Inside, you’ll find that Rauru will already be there waiting for you. Here, he’ll give you the Ultrahand ability and give a short rundown on how to use it as well.

As it is with pretty much every Legend of Zelda game, this ability will be used in this specific shrine to solve puzzles. Best get your arts and crafts skills to work, because you’ll be gluing a bunch of things together.

How to Use Ultrahand in Tears of the Kingdom

Now, we aren’t Rauru or anything, but we want to give you guys a short summary of how to use the Ultrahand ability as well. To put it simply, the Ultrahand ability gives Link the power to make new creations by sticking individual objects together.

Not to be mistaken for the fuse ability, the Ultrahand ability is simply you gluing objects together instead of straight up fusing them down to the molecular level. Use Ultrahand to grab and move objects, rotate them, and stick them to other objects.

To activate Ultrahand, use the L button on your controller. After activating Ultrahand, you can grab an object using the A button and then move the item around, reset it with the ZL button, attach it to another object using the A button once again, and even rotate it on both a vertical and horizontal axis using the D Pads.

Now, there are two major uses for this specific ability. The first is to solve puzzles in specific shrines and dungeons. The second, meanwhile, is so much more fun. By getting in touch with your imagination, you can create vehicles like boats and cars by merging together different objects. Heck, you could even create a plane as long as you’re able to find the correct materials.
