While Epona is one of the best horses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, she isn’t the only one. I’m partial to riding around Hyrule on horseback and prancing around my foes as they try to catch me.
To make the most of this, I need a good horse. Fortunately, there are numerous options when it comes to the best horse in Tears of the Kingdom. Looking to saddle up with an amazing horse? Then keep reading below and tame a great steed!
What Are the Best Horses in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
You can find wild horses throughout Hyrule and register them at stables, but the best horses are much harder to find. There are four noteworthy horses that make taming a wild horse obsolete. If you have any saved horses from Breath of the Wild, these can be transferred to Tears of the Kingdom. Here are the best horses to use in Tears of the Kingdom.
- Epona
- Epona is the tried and true horse from The Legend of Zelda series. She has amazing stats except for her pulling, making her less suited for a workhorse and more suited to looking amazing and getting you from place to place. You’ll need the Super Smash Bros. or Twilight Link amiibo to unlock this horse.
- Golden Horse
- Zelda’s Golden Horse can be found through a quest at the Snowfield Stable in Tabantha Tundra. this horse has similar stats to Epona, so still isn’t the best horse to pull any contraptions. This horse looks great in photos as well.

- Giant White Stallion
- This massive steed can be found near the Lake of the Horse God in the Faron region and west of Martha’s Landing. A bit slower than Epona and Zelda’s Golden Horse, the Great White Stallion makes up for this with excellent stamina.
- Stalhorse
- The Stalhorse is the only horse that can run over Gloom, making it an excellent choose in The Depths. It only spawns at night on the surface, but is still a good ride. You won’t be able to register a Stalhorse at a stable, so it is unfortunately a temporary ride.
