Will Call of Duty: MW2 Get Zombies?

The Call of Duty franchise is well-known for its various Zombie modes that are playable throughout almost every installment. It’s no secret that long-time players were disappointed that the fan-favorite mode would not be included in the reboot of Modern Warfare 2 in 2022.

Despite the let-down, Call of Duty fans have remained hopeful that we will see Zombies added to the game somewhere down the line. Although, we haven’t yet seen a change.

Will Call of Duty: MW2 get Zombies? Activision’s Infinity Ward Studio gave us our answer with the release of MW2 last year. Let’s go over the details.

When Will Call of Duty: MW2 Get Zombies Mode?

Unfortunately, it seems that MW2 won’t be getting a Zombies mode at any point in time.

With the relaunch of MW2 in October of last year, the team at Activision’s Infinity Ward Studio sat down with interviewers at Venture Beat to answer a few burning questions about the game. Of course, a potential Zombies mode was brought into question.

However, the inquiry didn’t yield the answer we were hoping for. The PR team for Infinity Ward explicitly stated that “there will be no zombies.”

In the same interview, the co-studio head and creative director, Patrick Kelly, talked a bit about previous in-game features that felt “a little too sci-fi,” implying the popular Zombies mode. Despite demand from franchise fans, the studio has aimed to achieve a vision they had for MW2 with it’s 2022 reboot, and they haven’t strayed from it.

While this decision and others continue to frustrate a portion of long-time players, we respect Infinity Ward’s choice to maintain its vision for what is arguably one of the most popular games in the Call of Duty franchise. Even so, there are certainly other maps and elements that we hope to see added in the future.
