The majority of, well, young-ish adults grew up with some form of gaming. Whether you played on a PC, a handheld console, or a PlayStation, you most probably had some exposure to video games. However, as people grew up, responsibilities took over, and some of us had to faze out the hobbies we once enjoyed. However, some adults managed to rekindle their love for gaming thanks to Steam Deck.
Everyone Should Be Able to Enjoy Gaming
When you have to juggle your work, family, and other responsibilities, you don’t necessarily have the time to build your own PC and follow all the latest trends in gaming. Kudos to those who manage to incorporate their hobbies into their everyday lives. We all have phases when we game more or less, depending on how much free time we have.
One Steam Deck user, InigoMarz, shared how important this device was on their journey to rediscovering the joys of gaming. They shared their story with the Steam Deck community on Reddit, and it truly resonated with some of the users.
The OP noted: “I just want to share how my Steam Deck made me fall in love with gaming all over again”. They explained how they grew up playing the PlayStation, Nintendo, and other consoles. However, as they grew up, responsibilities kicked in, and they didn’t have time for video games anymore.
When they learned about the Steam Deck, at first it didn’t really intrigue them, however, one thing made them reconsider. The OP stated: “I also learned that the Steam Deck is capable of playing PlayStation 2, which is pretty much my favorite PS console of all time; so I just had to get it. Finally, in December 2022, I bit the bullet and bought the Steam Deck, particularly the LCD model”.
The rest was history. The OP said: “Now I’m more active on my Steam account and play Steam games more often because of the Deck. Maybe someday I’ll get to building a PC of my own again but for now, the Deck is here to stay for the long run. In fact, I play it more than my PS4”.
Steam Deck Users Praise the Device
Now, this story truly resonated with many Steam Deck users, as many of us had similar phases in our gaming journey. One Steam Deck user, Impossible_Heron4894, noted: “Me too been putting in crazy hours recently. The Steam Deck is what I always wanted when I was little but it was not possible yet”.
On a personal note, we started playing video games back in the ’90s, on a Sega Game Gear. Though we’ve gone through many phases, playing both on the PC and PS, there is something extremely nostalgic and quite simple about playing on a handheld device, and Steam Deck has been a perfect addition to our collection.
What we truly love is the fact that people who grew up playing video games can now easily go back to their roots and rediscover their love for gaming.
