Players Solve Why Valorant Occupies Most of Their Storage Space

Valorant Official Art

All players who struggle with the amount of available storage space know that every megabyte counts. Recently, players noticed that Valorant takes up way more storage space than they expected. Is the size of the game the problem, or is it something else?

Players Report Valorant Taking Up Several Terabytes

One player, AccordingLeg8402, complained to the Valorant community. They explained the situation: “My Valorant almost takes 100 GB of my storage. I only have around 240 GB of storage on my PC. Is it normal for the Riot client to use 50 GB? I thought Valorant needed less than 50 GB to run”.

Caught_You_Off_Guard said: “Bruh, you know Valorant is 1TB on mine, I don’t know why”. Different players reported that Valorant occupied as much as 3TB of their storage space. Some suggested that corrupted files were to blame.

Other Redditors proposed that the issue might stem from the invasive anti-cheat technology. MakimaGOAT elaborated: “I think it could be because Riot’s anti-cheat is at a kernel level so it takes into account everything on your PC. So, the number looks way more inflated than it should be. Like I saw some people say their Valorant app was taking up 4 terabytes and whatnot”.

The Community Reveals the Most Probable Cause of the Storage Space Issue

All the previous solutions are definitely possible, but the most devoted Valorant players know the true cause of its unfathomable size. This has been an ongoing problem for a while now. Totolamalice revealed: “It’s 100% a VERY well-known visual bug. As others stated, my Valorant supposedly takes 3TB, which I don’t have”.

Strict-Chance5921 explained: “Visual bug. Look at the Riot Client folder in your actual file explorer. Valorant will also show as over 2 TB on add/remove programs but again this is just a visual bug. Having said this I would look at adding another SSD to your PC. They are so cheap these days, 500 GB SSDs are under £30 1 TB SSDs under £50”.

We have encountered this bug before, so we can confirm that is the most probable cause of this problem. That being said, if you have this issue, check the properties of the actual Valorant folder, just to be safe. We are thankful for the helpfulness of the Valorant community and especially its anti-cheating movement. It’s very rare to find a community like this one, so we suggest you enjoy their support.
