With the arrival of Vyse, reportedly Agent 26, the players have noticed something peculiar. Even though the latest addition is marked as number 26, there are only 25 playable agents (Vyse included). After some light investigating, players concluded which Agent was missing. Now, the Valorant community is discussing whether there is a valid lore explanation for the absence of Agent 8 and will the players ever get to meet this Agent.
Could There Be a Lore Explanation for the Absence of Agent 8?
One devoted Valorant player, NightCityForces, started this whole discussion when they noticed there were only 25 Agents in-game. They noted: “Maybe someone can help me understand. Clove was said to be Agent 25. Vyse is 26. But in my quest to unlock them all, I keep a list, and there are ONLY 24. Vyse is agent 26, but there are only 24 agents currently available. 6 Initiators 5 Sentinels 7 Duelists 6 Controllers I’ve checked Riot’s website, and other sites, and triple-checked my math”.
Obviously, the OP wasn’t aware of the existence of the missing Agent 8. As for why this Agent is missing, fans have various theories, more and less plausible ones. DEATHSTARGOD suggested several ideas: “I could already see the twist. He is the only variant from both Earths. Agent 8 is the one who orchestrated everything. He left and turned against the team”.
Another player, Salza_boi, noted: “I think Agent 8 was a traitor in some way. Or hiding/was part of something bigger that Valorant Agents don’t mention or that Agent’s information being withheld. I think it would be cool if Agent 8 worked for Omega/Valorant Legion but I don’t know how that would work. Unless the Omega version works for the Alpha/Valorant protocol”.
Valorant Players Share When the Missing Agent Might Arrive
Aside from the lore explanation, another huge question is when will the Valorant community be introduced to the mysterious Agent 8. EverchangingSystem noted: “We don’t know why yet, but knowing Riot they will probably make a giant reveal event out of that in the future. Might take a few years though”.
Other players, like FoxyDeAssassin, disagreed wholeheartedly. This player stated: “I think they will be released soon, maybe the next Agent to be released or the one after that, can’t see them delaying it for this long now”.
Another player, japanadian02, confirmed that theory. They said: “I definitely think all the events happening right now will lead them to Agent 8. I think it’d be cool if Agent 8 had a whole new role. Although I’ll admit I have no idea what that would be”.
Even though we can’t wait for Agent 8 to be revealed, at the moment, we are way more excited to try out Vyse. She seems like she could be a game-changer, and who knows, maybe she’s the key to finding the missing Agent 8? It might be a controversial opinion, but having another Sentinel is just what the doctor ordered, in our opinion. Enjoy the game and look out for clues about Agent 8.
