How to fix the VAN9005 Error in Valorant

The developers of Valorant, Riot Games, implemented changes to their security to create a more safe and fair gaming environment. This included updates to their security protocols, but as with any innovation, there are growing pains. Due to this, some players might have encountered errors, one of which is error VAN9005, that are triggered by settings in Windows and BIOS. If you’re one of the unfortunate players, check the following steps to get rid of the issue.

Enable UEFI and TPM 2.0

Because this error is caused by Unified Extensible Firmware Interface and Trusted Platform Module incompatibility, we’re going to address those fixes first. To fix this issue, you should enable UEFI and TPM in BIOS first:

  • Restart your computer and press the BIOS key (usually DEL or F2) to enter BIOS.
  • Under the Boot tab set Boot Mode to UEFI.
  • Next, you will have to go to the Security tab. Click on Set Supervisor Password to create the password to get to the TPM section.
  • In the TPM section change the TPM state to Enabled.
  • Save and exit BIOS, then reboot your PC.

Disable Virtualization-Based Security

If the previous fix did not help, you can try disabling VBS. In addition, some computers do not support TPM and UEFI, so disabling VBS might be the only solution to fix VAN9005 error. Keep in mind that you can check if all these parameters are turned off or Disabled by using the System Information screen on your PC. 

  • To start, you will have to turn off Core Isolation.
  • In the Windows Search type Core Isolation and click on it.
  • Locate Memory integrity and toggle it Off.
  • Restart the computer to apply this change. 
  • Next, locate CMD (Command Prompt) in the Windows Search bar and run it as administrator.
  • In CMD write: “bcdedit/set hypervisorlaunchtype off” and press Enter.
  • To implement this change you will have to restart your computer one more time.

These solutions should help you fix the VAN9005 error in Valorant. Try launching the game again and you should encounter no more issues.
