Along with the upcoming 01.001.007 update that is set to be released on September 17th, Arrowhead Game Studios has now announced that the next Helldivers 2 Warbond, titled Chemical Agents, is set to be released on September 19th. This comes following the controversy surrounding the Escalation of Freedom update that led to the developers creating a 60-day roadmap to rectify many of the issues with the game.

In a blog post, Arrowhead Game Studios revealed the next Helldivers 2 Warbond that is going to be called Chemical Agents. As the name suggests, this new Warbond is going to focus on gases that are going to exterminate every enemy that stands in your way of democracy. With its focus on chemical agents, these weapons will be best suited for living organisms, so Terminid slayers will be very happy with these new inclusions.

When Arrowhead Game Studios first began releasing Warbonds, they typically released numerous weapons, usually 4-6 per Warbond. However, Chemical Agents will only include one new weapon, although it will include a new Stratagem for the first time which is incredibly exciting and opens the door for many new opportunities in the future.

Chemical Agents will include the TX-41 Sterilizer, which sprays a chemical gas at your enemies. This is an unusual weapon that hasn’t been seen in the game before, but it is similar to the Pulse weapons. If the Sterilizer isn’t enough to take them down, Chemical Agents also includes a new Guard Dog Stratagems called Dog Breath, which will spray corrosive gas at the enemies autonomously.

Keeping up with the gas theme, the new Grenade that is included in the Chemical Agents Warbond is the G-4 Gas Grenade, which creates a cloud of noxious fumes to choke your enemies. But, this can also hurt you, so wearing the new AF-50 Noxious Ranger lightweight armor or AF-02 Haz-Master Armor will protect you from the gas. In addition to the new weapons and Stratagems, there are the usual utility items, capes, emotes, and other cosmetics to unlock too.

Here is everything that you can unlock in the Chemical Agents Warbond,

  • AF-50 Noxious Ranger (Light Armor)
  • AF-02 Haz-Master (Medium Armor)
  • TX-41 Sterilizer (Weapon)
  • AX/TX-13 “Guard Dog” Dog Breath (Stratagem)
  • P-11 Stim Pistol (Utility)
  • G4 Gas Grenade
  • 300 Super Credits
  • Mustard Shuttle Pattern
  • Mustard Hellpod Pattern
  • Mustard Exosuit Pattern
  • Standard of Safe Distance (Banner)
  • Patient Zero’s Remembrance (Banner)
  • Standard of Safe Distance (Cape)
  • Patient Zero’s Remembrance (Cape)
  • Ew (Emote)
  • Natural Gas Extraction (Emote)
  • Expert Exterminator (Player Title)

As with previous Warbonds, Chemical Agents will cost 1,000 Super Credits, which can either be purchased from the Store or earned by collecting them in-game. Despite the lack of weapons, and it favoring the Terminids which will leave Automaton players with very little to check out, this is an interesting Warbond due to the inclusion of a Stratagem. In the past, Stratagems have been made available by purchasing them with Requisition Slips from your ship, so locking them to a Warbond is surprising, but it could open the door for many exciting additions in future themed Warbonds.

Next week looks to be an incredibly exciting time for the Helldivers 2 community, with the 01.001.007 update coming on September 17th, which is said to have 6-8 pages of patch notes. Over the past few days, Arrowhead Game Studios has been releasing teasers showcasing what to expect from the next patch. So far, we have learned that the Flamethrower, Railgun, and Breaker Shotgun are set to receive major buffs. Then, two days later we will get to check out the new Warbond, so if you have yet to earn the Super Credits needed, now is a great time to start grinding.
