We are just days away from the next Helldivers 2 update going live and Arrowhead Game Studios has been periodically releasing teasers of what we can expect. So far, we know that the Flamethrower and fire damage are set to be buffed and improved rather than simply reverted. It was also revealed yesterday that the Railgun’s damage is set to be quadrupled, which could shake up the meta and make it a must-use weapon across a variety of situations.
The Escalation of Freedom update caused a lot of controversy when fire damage and popular weapons such as the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun were nerfed. This played a part in turning players away, leading to the game recently hitting the lowest player count ever when it dropped below 7,000 concurrent players. Thankfully, it looks like Helldivers 2 is finally turning around with the 01.001.007 update.
Arrowhead Game Studios has taken to the official Helldivers 2 Discord server to reveal the next buff that is set to come to the game with the 01.001.007 update. In a video from the developers, Arrowhead revealed that the Breaker Shotgun is set to receive a massive buff.
During the video, Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmborg discussed the upcoming Breaker Shotgun buff, confirming that the weapon has been reverted to its launch state. The pair also confirmed that it received more stagger and 16 rounds per magazine, and most importantly…they didn’t take away magazines.
Arrowhead is planning on releasing these teasers over the next few days ahead of the September 17th 01.001.007 update, and it is exciting to see what will be announced yet. It will take a long time for Arrowhead to rebuild Helldivers 2 community, but these teasers are a great first step in doing so as they are generating a lot of buzz. Hopefully, the update will live up to expectations, but with the patch notes being 6-8 pages long, there will be a lot of changes to dive into next week.
