The reveal for the next PlayStation console was yesterday, on September 10. Fans all over the world gathered to watch the official announcement of the newest console – PlayStation 5 Pro. Sony talked about the performance of the upcoming console, and what games will work the best on it. Unsurprisingly, one of those games is The First Descendant. However, TFD fans are not that excited about the new console.
“No Thanks” Steep Price Deters TFD Players From the Latest Console
Unfortunately, at the end of the announcement, Sony revealed the price of the PS5 Pro, and it was higher than people anticipated. For the newest PS console, fans would have to pay $700 or €800. The improved performance of PS5 Pro does not seem to justify the price tag.
Furthermore, Sony is not a popular company right now, due to a series of bad decisions (like the whole Helldivers 2 controversy, the recent flop of Concord, etc), which pushes the TFD players even further away from the new console. “I’d rather spend 700$ plus on your skins, [and] new descendants than support this terrible company that censors and prejudice against Asian devs…” said Clive2023 on X, and RUBY_REDWOLF stated: “The game already looks great on the current consoles (PS5 and Series X) I’ll save my money for the “next gen” consoles…”
Players Would Rather Spend Their Money on New Cosmetics or Even a New PC
Others would gladly add a couple of bucks more and get a good gaming PC. “I would rather spend my money on a pc that won’t be outdated after a new console comes out…” said Scp_pimpkinking and “To any of you considering blowing seven-hundred bucks on a dying Sony console, I beg you, save a few hundred more and buy a desktop gaming PC instead. It’ll serve you years longer than a PS5 Pro and you can upgrade individual components with stronger replacements at any time.” added NEHWind.
The PC is still a preferred option for the majority of TFD players. “No thanks. I’ll stick with PS5 and wait for PS6… besides, I prefer playing TFD on PC anyway” said AstvanX and “Would rather buy skins for ult Bunny, ult Freyna, ult Hailey when she comes out. Imagine dropping $800 (the disc drive isn’t included) on a marginally better console than the ps5 when you could just play on pc… and is the bug still there where more frames means more damage?” added glennriccobono.
While which console is better for you is a matter of personal preference, it is a fact that paying that much money for a marginally better TFD experience is probably not worth it. What The First Descendant players are a little worried about is the possibility of the game becoming more and more demanding on your platform, to practically force people to upgrade. But, we truly hope it will not come to this, as Nexon have been fair in their decisions so far.
