Fans Disappointed With Luna’s Playstyle in The First Descendant

The First Descendant Luna shouting into her weapon

Luna has been the most anticipated release since the official launch of The First Descendant. She is the #15 character that you can use/unlock, and the first Descendant added since the game’s release. Naturally, everyone was excited when she was finally added in the latest Patch, on July 31. She’s described as a supporting character, buffing the allies around her, especially if she can “keep up the beat”. But, after a day of testing, some fans are not exactly happy with her playstyle.

Luna Is Not What the Fans Expected

If you planned on being a good support character, and using your favorite weapons while helping out your team, you may be a bit disappointed. It turns out Luna’s playstyle revolves around her Unique Weapon, ie, you can’t use her to her full potential using, for example, Nazeistra’s Devotion or Tamer.

One Reddit post, made by InquiringCrow, discusses this subject and the number of disappointed players is staggering. The main problem with Luna is that you have to focus on her unique musical mini-game, instead of, well, everything else. User DMercanary said: “Yeah unfortunately I saw gameplay of her and just “Yeah no.” It’s a simple rhythm game inside of another game. Which would be fine if you weren’t also getting shot at, need to move, find cover, get health, get MP, etc.”

More players agree, like rye_domaine who said it perfectly: “She’s an absolute nightmare to use, supports in games like this should be set and forget because playing guitar hero while trying to shoot bad guys and dodge them and keep my allies in range requires being able to lock-in in a way I do not have lmao”

Is It Just a Skill Issue?

Naturally, the infamous “skill issue” replies are all over the place. Redditor TheEternalFlux said: “Or just git gud and do it at the same time? Idk I guess a lot of the brain rot games as of late removed most actual interaction from desired gameplay. We trend further and further into the depths of everyone crying for autoclicker level of access in games lately”

But, as one user puts it: “You require skill to use ANYONE “properly”. Now u could say that she is challenging. But there’s always a difference between challenging and boring/unfair, and skill is never involved in this difference.”

In summary, it looks like Luna is not for everyone, at least for now. A lot of comparisons have been made to Lucio from Overwatch (who is an obvious inspiration for Luna). “Lucio works because he’s so mobile. It seems like they went in the complete opposite direction with Luna.” said one Redditor. Hopefully, Nexon will tweak her a bit to make her more playable, because for now, it looks like she’s added just to boost the sales, without much thought given to the playstyle.
