“Exceeded My Expectations” Players Share Their Thoughts on The First Descendant Season 2
Well, Season 2 has been here for two weeks now. It added Keelan (and will add Ines in January), gave Sharen an Ultimate glow-up, added Void Vessel missions, Fellows, new weapons, and a ton of other, minor improvements. The dust has settled and now The First Descendant player share their thoughts on Season 2, up until now.
Has Season 2 Met The First Descendant Community’s Expectations?
First of all, the release of Season 2 was a bumpy ride. The surge of players overloaded the servers, and after that was fixed, players reported various bugs and errors. The biggest one is the fact that the game crashes way more than it did before, and try as they might, Nexon still hasn’t solved that issue. But, apart from that, Season 2 is considered a success (for now).
One player, named grumblecake1 on Reddit, started a thread, asking players what they think of Season 2. “Was really happy with Ultimate Sharen. Got absolutely lucky with the Advanced Stabilizers there. Enjoying the variability of the Void now. And figuring out our new Colossus has been fun. Quality of life aspects like combining modules and the Hard mode Special Operations make me want to log in again.”
Awesome Improvements
A lot of players are quite happy with everything Season 2 brought. The Fellow is the absolute winner here, since we finally got a pet, and one that helps us around, by collecting stuff and clearing up our inventory. Plus, it’s a dog, so that’s a bonus in itself. Add the cat backpack, and you’re good to go! “With good doggo around me, I am happy that I so far, never have to open inventory to dismantle again, and with the timer/30 sec downtime outpost I can farm most stuff waaaaaaaaaay less painful than before” said encryptoferia.
Others are happy that you can’t simply rush through everything in a day, with Sharen’s quest, grind for her Ultimate version, and most importantly, Void Vessel missions. “It has exceeded my expectations. I assumed that I would clear the content once or twice, get the dog and the descendants and [go away] again. Instead I’ve been playing every day for two weeks straight and I’m enjoying it like on day 1” said Cafficionado, and “just completed Sharen’s quests with her ult version maxed out, had a lot of fun farming the new dungeon for the doggo and keelan and now that both are maxed out it’s time to focus on fire crab to get all outfits” added Vegetable-Pomelo-459. So far so good, right?

“Over-Promised and Half-Delivered”
Sadly, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The Fellows are there but tend to get buggy, and the auto-dismantling system is not working as fast as expected. Sharen’s quest, while cool lore-wise, boils down to looking for a bunch of records, once again. Others say it all feels the same as before, and Keelan is ok, but nothing to write home about (unlike Hailey in Season 1).
The most detailed answer was given by user ReinkDesigns. They came to the conclusion that Nexon “over-promised and half-delivered”. Auto-dismantling is here, but it works too slowly. The Pity system has been added, but for items no one asked for. Sharen was supposed to be super-important in Void Vessels, but “when [they] described [her] we all assumed that there would be hallways only Sharen could go down without being spotted, and if you managed to make it you could hack terminals and get the entire party bonus rewards and or open secret passages or shortcuts… But no… It’s just a drone you can either shoot down or trigger for more XP…Sharen doesn’t even help against them”.
The initial idea was just as RenikDesigns said, when Nexon announced Sharen as the next best thing for these new missions. Honestly, we never came across a part in a Void Vessel mission and thought: “damn, I wish I was playing Sharen now.”
We have to agree with the criticisms here. Sure, all the new additions are pretty awesome and a step in the right direction. However, it’s almost like every new feature has the “yes, but…” moment. You CAN auto-dismantle, but… And, you CAN target items that you want, but… You get the idea. Thankfully, Nexon has proven time and time that they do listen to their fans, and hopefully, they will tweak all of the improvements a bit, to get them closer to what they promised initially.
