TFD is playable on both PC and consoles and playing shooters using a controller is generally tougher than using a mouse and keyboard. When it comes to menus, in some games you switch between tabs using side buttons, while others have a cursor of sorts, that you move around to select the options that you want. Whatever the case, it is usually slower than it would be if you were using a mouse.
The First Descendant is a game based on the grind, and players want to farm for their Descendant/Weapon materials as fast as possible. Anything that slows you down can turn into a real problem in the long run. Especially when there is a menu that takes a lot of time to navigate through when it could be easily fixed with a few simple tweaks.
Amorphous Materials Should Be Opened With Buttons
When it comes to the grind in TFD, you’ll be opening Amorphous Materials quite a lot. That menu is a bit on the clunky side, with a lot of needless animations. That wouldn’t be a problem but sometimes you’re trying to “catch” that Restart button (that has quite a short timer for some reason), after finishing a Void Intercept Battle. Navigating the AM menu is already slow enough for mouse & keyboard users, so the controller fans have it even worse.
What one fan, named Ever-Sins on Reddit, suggested is that if every option in the AM menu had an assigned button, you could open them in no time.
Other controller users agree, stating that even though this is hardly a priority for Nexon now, it would be quite handy. “The Amorph interface is definitely not as good as it could be,“ said SFPsycho. Another solution to all of this would be to increase the timer for the restart. Even PC users would love something similar: “A and D to switch between relics, spacebar to open, X to enable the shape stabilizer,” said antara33.
When farming you try to be as efficient as possible, and time is pretty valuable. Casual players are usually not affected by this, but those who farm tens and hundreds of Amorphous Materials would surely appreciate these improvements.
