Since the Freyna rework, a lot of players think that she may be a bit overpowered. Before Freyna, Bunny was the main culprit and the target of many a complaint. Her ability to speedrun everything apart from Collosi battles was a point of a lot of arguments, claiming she’s ruining the game for everyone else and asking for a nerf. Now, since Freyna got her rework and is now used for melting through everything in the game in a matter of seconds, she pulled all the aggro from the community. “Please Nerf Freyna” was a common request on social media and a point of division in the TFD community. It was just a matter of time before the devs gave us an official statement for Freyna. And now, about an hour ago (at the time of writing), Nexon stated that there are no immediate plans to nerf Freyna in The First Descendant.
Freyna Will Not Get a Nerf For Some Time, Says The First Descendant Dev Team
Last week, Nexon opened up a Q&A section on their The First Descendant Discord channel. It became the place to get all the latest news and dev comments on various TFD topics, like shared Skins, their thoughts on customizable Head Skins, new features, and more.
On November 11, one player asked some questions, like many before him, and ended with a statement: “Don’t nerf Frenya, you can upscale other characters but leave my baby alone”. Surprisingly, that was enough to elicit a response from the devs, a “final verdict” if you will.
“Here is the final conclusion regarding Freyna adjustments:
No immediate adjustments will be made to Freyna.
Priority will be given to rebalancing and reworking other Descendants.
Freyna’s power will be balanced through content.
Once other Descendants’ balances are elevated, we will revisit the overpowered Descendants as needed.”
This offers us a glimpse into the future of TFD. Nexon wants to leave the “power-fantasy” side of the game, where you obliterate masses of enemies in seconds. But it seems like they plan to bring other characters up to the same level, as well as add content that you just can’t speed through.
Looks like some great stuff is on the way, especially with Season 2. And here’s to hoping that this announcement will reduce the amount of “Nerf Freyna!” posts and requests.
