Shift Up’s latest and greatest project, Stellar Blade, is a game with a lot of controversies attached to it. It began with the design of the protagonist Eve, with people complaining about the “unrealistic” portrayal of her, and the devs even had a lawsuit on their hands, from a company called Stellarblade. But, even with all the flak, the fans love it, and Stellar Blade has quickly become a fan-favorite game. Some would argue one of the best games of 2024. Well, that proved more true than people expected, as Stellar Blade managed to win a total of 7 awards at the Korea Game Awards, held on November 13, 2024.

A Total of Seven Awards go to Stellar Blade During the Korea Game Awards

Korea Game Awards 2024 ended just a few days ago, on November 13. During the event, various games were competing for prizes in this prestigious event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Game Industry Association.

As for the major prizes, Shift Up’s Stellar Blade managed to get all seven of them (info provided by Youth Daily from Korea):

  • Excellence Award
  • Popularity Game Award
  • Planning and Scenario
  • Sound Design
  • Best Graphics
  • Character Design
  • Outstanding Developer Award

“I sincerely thank all of you for sending me so much support and interest, which has allowed me to win the 7th Game Awards. As this was my first AAA console game development, every moment was a series of challenges, and I believe that these challenges combined to produce good results. In the future, we will continue to provide users with games that contain ShiftUp’s own unique colors, giving them joy and excitement.” said Kim Hyung-tae, the CEO of ShiftUp

Surprisingly, it did not get the GOTY award. That one went to a mobile gacha game called Solo Leveling: Arise. Regardless, the fans are happy for them, saying that the awards are well deserved, and hoping that Stellar Blade will perform just as well on The Game Awards 2024.
