Does Starfield Have SLI Support?
There is no official confirmation that Starfield will have SLI support. However, the game will most likely not support it as the feature has been discontinued by Nvidia for years.
The feature did work in previous Bethesda titles including Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, though it was during the time that SLI was supported. Players that still have an SLI system will have to run Starfield themselves in case there are any issues.
What Is SLI?
Scalable Link Interface, or SLI, allows PC owners to link two, three, or four GPU video cards together to process games or other applications. The Nvidia Corporation has been using the term and technology since 2004.
The PC setup would include at least two graphics cards, most likely the same card, installed on a motherboard that contains multiple PCI Express slots. The cards would also be connected hardware-wise with an SLI bridge.
One card would act as a master card, while the other cards would simply process the work and send it to the master card before it is sent to the monitor. Nvidia would also have to create custom profiles for video games to take advantage of this feature.
SLI had fallen out of favor since its inception, as it would require players to purchase multiple video cards and other hardware that would be compatible with it. Nvidia has also discontinued support for SLI for NVLink, while the majority of PC players have stuck with only one GPU.
