The Sons of the Forest is fast approaching – with early access kicking off on February 23rd.
Developed by Endnight Games, the team behind the hugely successful The Forest, Sons of the Forest once again gives the player complete freedom to tackle the world how they want.
“There are no NPC’s barking orders at you or giving you missions you don’t want to do. You give the orders, you choose what happens next,” says the game’s official Steam page.
Sons of the Forest was originally due to launch on February 23, however the developers said they need to add more features and mechanics, and opted for an early access period instead.
“It’s been a long journey since we first started ‘Sons of The Forest’ development and it’s grown into the biggest most complex game we have ever made,” the team said in a statement on Steam.
“There is still so much more we want to add; items, new mechanics, gameplay balance and more. We didn’t want to delay again so have instead decided to involve the community in the continued development of this project and keep our February 23rd release date but instead release in Early Access.”

Sons of the Forest early access will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer with up to 8 players. At the time of writing, the game is scheduled to unluck in two days. You can add the game to your wishlist if you follow this link.
According to the developer: “There are caves to explore, a story to uncover, a brand-new building system, crafting system, a new arsenal of weapons, dynamic weather and seasons, terrifying enemies and lots more.”
Sons of the Forest early access kicks off on 23rd of February and will be available on Steam.

While there is no concrete release time time at the moment, Steam games tend to launch at 10 AM PST, which would be 18:00 GMT, so this is when we predict early access for Sons of the Forest will go live.
This is in line with what the Steam community has come to expect, but is subject to change.
According to the dev, Early Access will last for around 6-8 months, but “this could change”. Endnight has said the early access period will end once they have the “best version of the game possible”.
