We all know that PlayStation Portal sports the iconic Sony’s off-white color, but there are rumors that it may get a brand new look.
Sony had a dip in handheld consoles last year. PlayStation Portal is not a console as you’d expect, but more of a streaming device, ie, you stream a game from your PS5 to PS Portal via your home Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for a TV. A peculiar idea by Sony but one that proved profitable as it is their best-selling accessory. They even added a major update, allowing PS+ subscribers to use Portal to play games via cloud service, so they can even play some games on the go. There are even talks that Sony has another handheld device in mind.
However, on the subject of the PS portal, there are rumors that it may get a limited run with a different paintjob.
New Color for PlayStation Portal on the Way, According to an Insider
Practically every PS product comes in the signature off-white color. However, Sony is known for sometimes releasing limited runs with different designs, and it looks like that will also be the case with PS Portal.
According to Billbil-Kun, a reliable insider, we will get a black version of PS Portal. As for the release, we only know that it is planned to be soon, and “before the alleged new handheld console”. That doesn’t say much, but according to the insider, the price will be somewhere around $199.99 / €219.99 / £199.99.
The same source claims that we will get some black versions of the headsets, wireless headphones, and DualSense Edge controller, as well as a new thematic DualSense Controller inspired by none other than Helldivers 2. If all of this proves true, both the accessories and PS Portal, PlayStation fans better get their wallets ready. If you are bored of the regular white color on your peripherals, you’re in for a treat.
