Stellar Blade and Nier Automata are two very similar games. And that is no surprise, since the collaboration between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, “marked by mutual respect and creativity, led to this successful outcome.” The selling point of both of these games is the incredibly attractive protagonists (even though Nier has a surprisingly deep story and worldbuilding), so a collaboration was bound to happen. And happen it will, as PlayStation announced that a Stellar Blade x Nier Automata crossover is coming next week, to everyone’s delight.
A Nier Automata DLC for Stellar Blade Is Coming on November 20
On November 11, Sony announced that a collab between Nier Automata and Stellar Blade is coming. There is even a “teaser” video on Stellar Blade’s X page. Scheduled for November 20, Stellar Blade players will get a bunch of Nier-Automata-inspired outfits for Eve. “In the center of all this is Emil (voiced by Maii Kadowaki), the strange character from Nier: Automata. Emil’s Shop makes a surprise appearance in the world of Stellar Blade where eleven different collaboration-special items will be available. Items that intertwine the best of both games, leading you to a more enriched world.” says DongKi Lee, the CTO/Stellar Blade Technical Director from Shift Up.
They didn’t specify for how long will Emil stay with us. Additionally, a fully-developed Photo Mode will be added to the game as well. Unsurprisingly, the fans went crazy upon hearing all of this.
PlayStation Fans Overjoyed
When the announcement hit the community the fans went crazy. The majority of players who enjoy Nier Automata also love Stellar Blade, so this is something of a blessing for them. “Let’s gooo. You all cooked with this update” said JayBari_, “I’m so looking forward to playing this crossover. Good job, Shift Up.” said looby311311, and “Super excited for this. This is what gamers want, they want the unapologetic story and themes that these two games present without censorship or remorse.” added HeroicFigurez.
Some were a bit saddened since they hoped that 2B should be playable in the game as a character, not simply as a skin for Eve. Others asked for a Stellar Blade PC port. It is most definitely in the works, scheduled for 2025, but no more info than that. Either way, this collab is an awesome move by the devs.
