Once Human is the latest open-world survival game. You play as Meta-humans in a twisted world, full of weird monsters and alien entities. Build your own home, team up with friends and other players to create communities, gather various resources, hunt for Deviants, plant, cook, you name it. But, contrary to all of those cozy-sounding activities, you may get attacked by monsters and that can chip away at your sanity. Once Human really does have a specific Sanity mechanic, so keep reading to see what it is and how to restore lost Sanity.
What is Sanity in Once Human
Sanity is a stat in Once Human, whose primary function is to regulate your max HP. If your Sanity levels are high, your max HP will be unaffected. But, if your Sanity starts to drop, your maximum health will also be reduced (represented by a blue bar, on your otherwise white health bar).
You lose Sanity in Once Human either by fighting various monsters (especially “boss” monsters) or by taking certain “unsafe” consumables. “Unsafe” food like Raw Mean or Dirty Water will take a significant chunk of your Sanity each time you consume them, so avoid it whenever you can.
Additionally, if your Sanity drops to a certain Level (below half), you will get a temporary condition called a Whim. These Whims grant you both bonuses and penalties (in addition to the reduced HP). For now, there are six different Whims, and the Whim you get is chosen randomly.

How to Restore Sanity
Thankfully, there are a couple of ways you can easily restore Sanity in Once Human. The first and the easiest way to restore Sanity is to simply sleep in a bed. Build a bed in your base and snooze for a bit and you’ll see your Sanity levels increase.
Another way to restore Santy is by using consumables. Certain Consumables instantly restore a chunk of your Sanity, like the ever-present Santiy Gummy, Stardust Corn Ale, Fruit Tea, Stardust Mushroom Soup, etc. The downside is that, as with all Consumables, you have a limited quantity.
In summary, the best way to restore Sanity when you’re at your base is by sleeping, and, if you are out adventuring, is to use a Sanity Gummy or a similar Consumable.
