Is Marvel Rivals Free to Play?

Excitement is building around Marvel Rivals, and everyone is wondering if the game will be free to play. The game quickly captured the hearts of fans and gamers after NetEase Games and Marvel Games announced their new PvP shooter at the end of March 2024.

Marvel Rivals is an upcoming 6v6 third-person hero shooter that will see players take control of various Marvel characters. Currently, there are only 19 characters present, and we can expect more coming during the testing stage and after a release. For now, players can create their perfect team with only some members of The Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, X-Man and Punisher.   

Considering the different powers heroes or villains have there are countless team possibilities and variations. Especially when these powers are combined with other team members to unleash Team-up skills. After the perfect team is assembled players get to battle the other team on an iconic location from Marvel comics. Moreover, all the maps are full of destructible terrain, adding a constantly changing environment to every match. This all sounds very exciting, so let’s find out if the game will be free to play, or if there is a price tag.   

Will Marvel Rivas be Free to Play?

Yes, Marvel Rivals will be free to play after its release. The game entered its alpha testing stage, and although we are far from the full release, knowing that the game will be free makes us extra excited about it. Marvel Games and NetEase Games made the right choice. Making the game free will certainly generate a bigger player base for their upcoming release. 

Although the game will be free, it will most certainly have some in-game microtransactions present. This is a standard thing with all games that take the free-to-play approach. Developers do have to make money on the game after all. Although considering other popular free games, we can presume that microtransactions will be used for cosmetic purposes. Purchasing a Battle Pass, or unlocking new characters and skins with in-game currency is to be expected.
