Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the much-anticipated follow-up to Jedi: Fallen Order, a Star Wars game that followed Cal Kestis, one of the last Jedi survivors of the Imperial takeover. It was a huge game for Xbox One and PS4.

Why Isn’t Jedi: Survivor Coming to PS4 or Xbox One?
Game Director Stig Asmussen stated that next-gen consoles gave the team at Respawn much more technical and creative freedom. In an interview featured in the March 2023 edition of Play magazine, Asmussen talked about the decision not to release on the PS4 or Xbox One.
The development team behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor used the PS5 version of Fallen Order as a proving ground while considering how to enhance the new game. They learned that the newer consoles, with their faster processors, larger and faster memory, and better loading times, allowed them to create larger and more detailed maps with more enemy and non-playable character variety and overall higher fidelity.
This suggests that the game’s features and design could not be fully realized on the previous generation consoles. The team wanted to take advantage of the new console’s capabilities to push the game forward and create a more immersive experience. As a result, the game is only being released on newer consoles and PC rather than being developed to run on the previous generation consoles.

The previous title had some small issues on the PS4 and Xbox One, most notably the long loading times. Working with next-gen consoles would fix those issues while allowing for more creative freedom. It would allow the developer to be much more ambitious, building larger maps with better visuals, creating larger numbers of creatures and people to meet worldwide, and improving overall graphic fidelity.
Sorry PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users, there’s no chance that Jedi: Survivor will be making it to your consoles. The previous title was a great work for its time, featuring some of the highest-quality visuals the last-gen had seen.
It makes sense that dropping last-gen consoles would allow them to make the next step forward, reaching new highs brought on by newer technology. Fans of the series should be excited, as the idea of delivering a truly next-gen experience sounds promising. The trailer looks fantastic, and if what Asmussen says is to be believed, this game will be one you can’t afford to miss.
