The latest action-adventure game by Team Ninja, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, offers astonishing level-design and thrilling boss fights. However, the element most people are looking forward to is the multiplayer mode.
If you’re asking yourself, “Is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty multiplayer?” we have the right answer. So, buckle up, and let’s explore this question!
Is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Multiplayer?
Just like the previous Nioh franchise by Team Ninja, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty allows you to play multiplayer with co-op PvE mode and PvP mode. However, the multiplayer modes in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty don’t work like a mainstream multiplayer co-op game.
As the free-to-play game falls under the ‘Soulslike’ genre, its multiplayer is also inspired by the non-traditional multiplayer modes popularized by From Software in their Dark Souls trilogy. Keep reading to learn more about the game’s various multiplayer modes and how to enable them.

How To Enable Multiplayer In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
The multiplayer mode can only be accessed once you have cleared the first mission, Village of Calamity, and beaten the first boss, Zhang Liang.
It is worth noting that accessing the online lobby requires you to use an item known as Tiger Seal, just like Nioh games require Ochoko Cup. Tiger seals can either be found as loot throughout the game or dropped by killing invaders.
Once you have this item, you can access the online lobby by resting at a battle flag (this game’s version of a bonfire). Inside the Online Lobby menu, you can see three options: Recruit, Co-op, and Invade. The details of each mode are given below.

What Is Recruitment Mode? (PvE With Strangers)
Recruitment is the basic co-op mode where up to 2 random players can join your game and aid you in the mission. When you rest on a battle flag, choose the Recruit option in the Online Lobby to request others to join. The players who Respond to your request will be spawned in your game as your allies.
The multiplayer in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty works on level-syncing to balance out the game’s difficulty. The high-leveled players you summon in your game will be synced to your current character level.
What Is Co-op Mode? (PvE With Friends)
Co-op mode is essentially the same as Recruit but allows you to invite friends to your game with a password-sharing system. You set a password in the multiplayer menu, which can be shared among friends, allowing them to join your game. Moreover, you can send direct invites to your friends via the Co-op mode to join you in the multiplayer.
Just like in Nioh 2 multiplayer, while in the Recruit or Co-op mode, players have an Aid Gauge, which allows them to resurrect their allies. Once the Aid Gauge is completely drained, no more resurrection is possible, and the mission will be over, resulting in you returning to the last-rested Battle Flag.
What Is Invasion Mode? (PvP)
Invasion mode works the same as the invasions in Soulsborne games. You will enter another player’s game to kill the host by choosing the Invade option in the Online Lobby. Completing the task rewards you with the in-game currency, Accolades.
If you don’t want to be invaded while playing online, go to the Online Settings menu and turn off the option Invasion by hostile players.
Whether you participate in jolly cooperation by helping others defeat the toughest bosses or invade players’ worlds for honorable and exciting duels, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s multiplayer modes have you covered.
