If you love putting some evil ghosts to rest, then there’s no better game to do it in than Resident Evil 4 Remake. With the original game launched in 2005, its newer and better version is just around the corner, and people can’t wait to finally get a hold of it. However, the game’s arrival has also raised some questions: whether the game will contain a multiplayer feature.
Is Resident Evil 4 Co-Op?
Unfortunately, Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn’t contain multiplayer or co-op for now. The game’s remake is intended and focused to be like the original version, which only had a campaign mode and some other game modes meant to only be played solo.

However, Capcom announced at the February 2023 State of Play showcase that The Mercenaries mode will return as a free DLC following the remake’s release. While this mode was originally a co-op mode in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, it’s set only to be a single-player mode for the remake. Although, this does open some doors for the mode to be converted into a multiplayer setting in the future.
Will There Be Multiplayer/Co-Op In Resident Evil 4 Remake In The Future?
Many games in the Resident Evil saga consisted of multiplayer or co-op mode, even some before the original Resident Evil 4, such as the Resident Evil Outbreak, released two years prior. The games after Resident Evil 4, such as Resident Evil: Revelations or Operation Raccoon City, have also included multiplayer or co-op.
So while currently there’s no multiplayer mode in RE4 Remake, there’s a 50-50 chance it might get added by the devs if the game receives a thunderous response from fans. There’s also a chance that Capcom might already have a plan to add an online mode, and you may hear an announcement soon after the game is released.
