How to get an Owlbear Cub Step by step

1. Find the Owlbear cave
2. Knock out or Kill the Mother Owlbear
3. Travel to the Goblin Camp
4. Either
   • Talk to the Owlbear Cub or Pay Krolla 500g
5. Take your new pet home to camp

An alternate method to this is to just massacre all the Goblins, but you should make sure the Owlbear cub is in the camp first, even if you do not complete the race or just ignore the group altogether. The cub will find its way to your camp after your bloodthirsty party has slaughtered al the goblins. ( This may or may not be the way we did this…)

Finding the Owlbear Cave

The first step is to find the Owlbear cave. The cave is located just after you encounter the dwarven True Soul and his siblings. If you follow the tracks down to the nearby river, you will spot the cave entrance just on the other side of the river. Once you go inside, you will enter a small cave system. Follow the path naturally and you will eventually encounter the Owlbear at the end of the cave.

Getting the Cub

The quickest way to get the cub is to kill or knock out the mother Owlbear. However, if you do this, the goblins will eventually find the cub and take it. You can find the cub in the goblin camp, where it is being held by a goblin named Krolla. Krolla is boasting about his new game, Chicken-Chasing.

To get the cub, you will need to talk to it and succeed in two animal handling checks. The cub will agree to go to your camp, but only after the goblins are gone. You can either deal with the goblins yourself, or you can talk to Krolla and try to persuade him to give you the cub.

If you talk to Krolla, you will have a few options. You can intimidate him, persuade him, buy the cub for 500 gold, or use your Illithid wisdom. The easiest way to get the cub is to use your Illithid wisdom, but this will have a cost.

Bringing the Owlbear Cub Back to Camp

Once you have the Owlbear cub, you can bring it back to camp. The cub will not appear immediately. It may take a few nights for the cub to show up in camp, don’t forget, this is also where you can change companions.
