How to Farm Iridium in Stardew Valley

A farm in Stardew Valley.

There are many minerals and resources that can be found in Stardew Valley, but few, if any, are as valuable and sought after as Iridium. After all, this precious metal can be used to create some of the game’s most useful items.

However, many players often get confused as to how to farm this precious metal, as there are a number of ways to get your hands on it, but not all of them are as reliable or consistent as most would like them to be. Well, that’s where we come in.

We’ll be going through the best ways of farming Iridium in Stardew Valley so you never have a shortage of it again.

Stardew Valley – How to Farm Iridium

As mentioned above, there are multiple ways to farm iridium in Stardew Valley, and we’ll be going through the most useful ones.

Mining It

Of course, seeing as how mining is such an integral part of the game, and iridium is a metal, it’s a given that we should be able to farm it by mining. To be specific, if you want to farm iridium by mining, then Skull Cavern is where you want to go.

Although Skull Cavern is extremely deadly, the fact that the chances of iridium nodes spawning go up every ten floors urges players to test their limits in order to clear as many floors as they can.

However, the difficulty getting increasingly higher, and the fact that there’s no way to save your progress makes it all the more important to keep the following in mind:

  • Ensure you go in there with the best weapons possible. If you can, try to use either the Infinity Gavel or Galaxy Hammer, as they’re easily the best weapons in the game.
  • If you can, use the Space Boots that are found on floor 110 of the regular mines.
  • There are multiple band and ring combinations you can use, but wherever you use them, ensure that they’ll actually help you.
  • Food is VERY important if you want to last in there for a while. Try taking a bunch of salads (since they’re the most cost-effective) as well as some big healing items that can give you a big health boost when you’re in a pinch.
  • Although there are many different types of enemies in Skull Cavern, the one type you need to watch out for are serpents. They fly, hit hard, are fast, and take multiple hits to kill.

As long as you keep all these things in mind, you should be able to successfully leave the cavern with a bunch of Iridium in your inventory.

What’s more, is that it’s possible to get some extra iridium on the side when going through Skull Caverns, as enemies such as purple slimes, bats, and crabs sometimes drop iridium when they’re killed, and all three of them are present in Skull Caverns.

Statue of Endless Fortune

There are a total of two statues in the game that can be used to farm Iridium, and the first of them is the statue of endless fortune which can be bought at the casino by a shady dealer for a WHOPPING 1 million gold. Yes, you read that right.

However, we’d say paying such a hefty price would be more than worth it if you’re looking to farm some iridium, as every single day it spawns one of the following items:

  • A Gold Bar
  • An Omni Geode
  • A Diamond
  • A loved gift (only if it’s someone’s birthday)
  • An Iridium Bar

Yes, the iridium bar is what would be ideal, but the other items the statue can potentially spawn aren’t too shabby either if you ask us. Although this method is rather reliant on how lucky you get and how many times the statue spawns iridium bars, it’s an excellent way to passively farm the valuable material.

Statue of Perfection

Starting from year 3 in Stardew Valley, players can put a diamond on Grandpa’s Shrine in the corner of their farm and he will evaluate their progress. The statue will reward players with points based on which points they’ve accomplished during their playtime.

After getting a good evaluation for completing enough noteworthy feats (which will prompt all four candles of the statue to be lit), players can return to the shrine the following day to find the statue of perfection sitting there just asking to be taken by you.

Now, the Statue of Perfection is the single best way of farming iridium passively. This is because the farm spawns anywhere from two to eight iridium ores every single day. As a matter of fact, there’s also a glitch associated with this statue, which makes it so players are able to basically have an unlimited number of them at once.

Fish Pond

If you’re able to get at least one fish pond and put super cucumbers in them, then after a couple of days they’ll start generating small amounts of Iridium every few days as long as you continue to have those super cucumbers in there.

Although the amount you get from the fish pond isn’t exactly all that high, because of the fact that this is pretty much a passive way of farming Iridium, we thought it deserved to be included here.

Keep in mind that super cucumbers can be caught from either the ocean at the beach, or on the beach farm during Fall and Summer evenings, as well as on Ginger Island South, Southeast, West, and the Pirate Cove during any season.

It can also be randomly found in Garbage Cans during Fall and Winter, or in the Traveling Cart for anywhere between 750 and 1250 gold. The best thing, however, is that super cucumbers can be caught regardless of the time of day or season using Magic Bait.
