Hogwarts Legacy is rife with secrets and hidden rewards, just as Hogwarts Castle should be. Whether players are going to class or exploring the grounds, they are sure to find puzzles and hidden areas alike, all containing some sweet loot as a reward. However, one of the first secrets players may come across is the House Chest. Located in each common room, the House Chest first seems like any other chest. Although, it’s anything but. The chest is a puzzle of its own, and one with a pretty fantastic reward to boot. We’ll explore how players can open it, and what rewards they can expect when they finally figure it out.

How Do You Open the House Chest in Hogwarts Legacy?
The House Chest opens when a player collects all 16 house tokens located around Hogwarts. These are hidden within special cabinets around the castle that can only be opened with Deadalian Keys.
Players can find Deadalian Keys once they start the related Deadalian Keys side-quest. This side-quest can be started very early in the game by speaking to Nellie Oggspire in the transfiguration courtyard.
Deadalian Keys are flying keys that can be found around Hogwarts once players have started this side-quest. Catching a key and following its path will lead the player to its corresponding cabinet. Opening this cabinet will reward the player with a single house token.
It should be noted that players can’t open every cabinet at the beginning of the game. Roughly 15 of 16 can be completed, but one key requires the player to know the Alohomora spell to complete it.
Once a player collects all 16 house badges and brings them back to the House Chest, the chest will open, giving players their reward.

What Is the Reward for Opening the House Chest in Hogwarts Legacy?
Opening the House Chest will reward players with the Relic House Robe for their chosen house. In a way, this means your reward differs depending on the house you’ve been sorted into.
Relic House Robes are cosmetic outfits that look like older, more intricate versions of house robes. Each also has visual effects, with threads and colors that glow when players cast spells, making them feel like a more classic wizard or witch’s robe compared to the standard uniform.
While they don’t provide any stat bonuses, the cosmetics are among some of the most unique in the game, and they can be equipped to existing gear to change your look without compromising your stats. Players will get the robe for whatever house they belong in, meaning it will always suit a player’s choice. For those that want their wardrobe’s level of fashion to match their level of spell mastery, this will definitely be the outfit for them.
