It’s no secret that fan creativity knows no bounds. Helldivers 2 fanbase has produced some exemplary content, ranging from fan art, memes, and theories, to videos and more. Yet some of our favourites are the ones that cross over between our favourite defenders of Super Earth and another well-known property. So grab your gun, kidnap a corgi, and tune up your spaceship, because this Helldivers x Cowboy Bebop mashup is off the charts.
Helldivers hilariously reimagined into the Cowboy Bebop intro
The minute-and-a-half intro video was created by Zaughk, who goes by Dorintin on Reddit. Set to the wonderfully jazzy “Tank!” jam by Yoko Kanno from the groundbreaking anime’s intro sequence, the video reimagines Helldivers into the role of the protagonists. The visuals are spot on, featuring carefully replicated movements and art style. There’s even a Super Destroyer in place of Bebop’s sequences. The attention to detail is a sight to behold, despite a few small glitches – it’s so good, that you won’t even notice until your 5th or 10th rewatch.
The intro credits are also amazing to read, so take the time to pause and give them a look. We laughed out loud at the credit for “Traitor: Joel”. Pilestedt and the CMs all get a shout-out. The best part is that it all somehow “fits”. As one commenter pointed out: “I’m telling ya, Cowboy Bebop OST is really fitting for all sorts of Helldivers shenanigans. Great job!”
As expected, the comments are overwhelmingly positive and the community reaction is of glowing praise. The creator faced several issues while putting this together, but it was well worth it in the end: “There’s a lot of stupid clipping in the comp but I started this back in March, forgot about it for 5 months. File got corrupted, I unf***d it and I figured now that it’s mostly done, might as well post it. Note: all of the names for super destroyers were taken from that post a while back asking to post your super destroyer name so yours may very well be in there!”
“Now THIS is propaganda!” is one of the top statements, and we heartily agree. We’re yet to see a negative comment and that’s for the best. Take the time and devote a couple of minutes to watch the video. Especially if you’re a fan of both Helldivers and Cowboy Bebop, but even if not – we promise you’ll love it.
