The Gloom has completely engulfed Hellmire even though some valiant Helldivers 2 players made their best effort to save it. Unfortunately, when the defense mission failed, Hellmire disappeared from the Galactic map. How did the community react and is there anything the players can do now?
The Future of Hellmire Is Unknown
Well, as you may have expected, the Helldivers 2 community has polarizing emotions about what happened to Hellmire. Those players who loved fighting on Hellmire, the affectionately called Hellhounds, are utterly devastated.
For them, Hellmire was the most interesting and challenging planet for battles. One player, Ichf1ckenega, noted: “Hellmire was a great map. It was a nice mix of different terrains, and the fact is that it was one of the most diverse maps”.
On the other hand, the majority of Helldivers are popping champagne and toasting to the end of their worst nightmare. FTLDuck stated: “I fought on the Creek, I fought on the Menkent line, I fought on Vernen Wells and I would rather go back to any of those than go back to liberty damned Hellmire”.
Now, there is one little problem, the conditions on Hellmire are perfect for speeding up the Terminid evolution. So. some players are worried they will soon be fighting super-evolved fire-spitting bugs. MoistPeanut272 worriedly suggested: “Will we get the burning Sharknado version of Terminids?”.
As you know, it’s also possible for the bugs to have an effect on the environmental conditions of a planet, but the players aren’t too optimistic on the matter. Todd-The-Wraith said: “Get ready for SUPER Hellmire! Now with, I don’t know, f**king fire-rain, fire-storms, and fire-quakes. Also, the fire tornados now have cloaking”.
Join Your Fellow Helldivers on Bot Hellmire
Given that the latest Major Order has the players fighting the bots, the Helldivers 2 players who adore Hellmire found an alternative. They are now fighting on Menkent, the so-called Bot Hellmire. The entire community is now calling the players to join them and complete the Major Order.
One player, jascoe95, noted: “Well if I can’t go to Hellmire I’ll put my fire-retardant armor on for the bots. Unlike Hellmire, I genuinely have to ask if the Fortified perk is worth more than the fire armor. Granted today’s drops make me think it’s a true 50/50 for players”.
Other players who were hesitant to try out the Freedom’s Flame armor are now quite happy about it. One of them, warmowed, stated: “I played an op on Menkent to test out the new fire resistance armor recently and honestly I’m pleasantly surprised with how good it is. I was always sort of partial to the fire planets but now it’s definitely a good time to play on them”.
