“Will It Be the Illuminate or Super Bugs?” Helldivers 2 Players Ponder What Will Emerge From the Meridia, Um… Wormhole

Helldivers 2 players fought valiantly on Fenrir III and successfully completed the Major Order. However, in a not-so-shocking twist, it was revealed the Meridia black hole was, in fact, the Meridia wormhole. Helldivers 2 players have lots of questions, first and foremost, what will inevitably emerge from the wormhole?

An In-game Briefing Offers Some Information About the Singularity

Many players sacrificed their lives on Fenrir III and managed to facilitate the construction of a new Center of Science. According to an in-game briefing, The Ministry of Science sent only the best astrophysicist to examine the black hole, scientifically known as the Meridian Singularity.

The briefing added: “Already, the project has yielded valuable insights. The Singularity is not, as many uninformed laypeople have assumed, a typical black hole. It is, in fact, the first observed instance of a wormhole: a tunnel in spacetime connecting two disparate points in space”.

Now, we’re quite certain a group of Super Earth scientists fairly recently claimed that the Singularity was nothing more than a black hole. So, either something changed, or the Illuminate used mind control on those unfortunate scientists.

The scientists will certainly give us more details soon, as some details are still unknown. As of the time of writing this article, it’s still unknown if the wormhole is something new or if it’s been there for a while. Also, it’s impossible to say what horrors might emerge from it.

Helldivers Suggest What Might Be Lurking From the Wormhole

Well, Helldivers 2 players surely tried to guess what horrors would come through the wormhole. Currently, there are three very popular theories, and, truth be told, they are all plausible.

The most obvious theory, considering the recent events, is that the rest of the Illuminate would join the vanguard. Now, some leaks floating around the internet show off more of the Illuminate units, as well as a huge Illuminate ship. Thus, some players are certain there would be a Special Event during which the Illuminate would spread across the Galactic Map.

However, the next theory claims that the Helldivers didn’t destroy Meridia. According to this theory, the Singularity has been a wormhole all along, and the Helldivers launched Meridia through it. The group of Helldivers which supports this theory claim that Super bugs are coming. Yup, the Terminids we love fighting might get a backup in the form of even more mutated bugs. This is also a valid theory, but it’s a bit too undemocratic for our taste.

The final, and most improbable theory is that something else is lurking from the wormhole. Some players suggested that the Illuminate were just a distraction, a small group left over from the First Galactic War, lured out of hiding by Managed Democracy. One of the biggest reasons why some players support this theory is the fact that the Galactic Map was split into four parts during the beta. However, not only is this extremely undemocratic, but the devs probably wouldn’t drop two factions back to back.

We’ll hopefully find out soon. Meanwhile, get in the spirit with some Helldivers-inspired holiday music, and celebrate the Festival of Reckoning with your fellow Helldivers. For Liberty and Super Earth.
