You might remember that the previous Major Order promised the players a new Stratagem as a reward. Unfortunately, the players failed to complete it, which caused tensions in the community. It turns out that the Helldivers 2 players did make enough progress in the last MO to grant them a temporary arsenal augmentation, in the form of the aforementioned Stratagem. That’s right the Orbital Napalm Barrage is now available.
Helldivers 2 Players Received a New Stratagem
On September 4, while valiantly contributing to the current Major Order, the divers received a wonderful message from Joel. It stated: “Temporary arsenal augmentation. While the supplies recovered by the Helldivers in the execution of the recent Major Order were insufficient to permanently deploy Orbital Napalm Barrages fleetwide, the Ministry of Defense was able to produce a limited supply of the Stratagem, thanks to the Helldiviers’ efforts”. All Helldivers have temporary access to Orbital Napalm Barrages.
Of course, some players were quick to point out that this addition came a day before the announcement of the roadmap for future updates that should fix the main issues during the 60-day period. Some untrusting Helldivers believe the devs decided to give the players an exciting Stratagem, and also a possible look at the Illuminate front, to hype up the community for the upcoming updates.
Other players think this was an attempt to bring more bugdivers to bot Major Orders, as the most recent one was probably lost because of the low number of players on the bot front. One player, _bumfuzzle_, suggested: “They probably did this to motivate players to play the next MO which will unlock this stratagem. They let us taste blood and will take it away. If the Barrage is good, people will want to unlock”.
First Reactions to the Temporary Arsenal Augmentation
Let us start off by saying – it’s Orbital Napalm Barrage. Honestly, there is nothing that could (or should) be bad about this Stratagem. Devoted Helldivers 2 players agreed and gave rave reviews of this temporary arsenal augmentation.
Win32error noted: “It’s a pretty dope Stratagem honestly. Good centering, rapid, good area of effect from what I can tell. Great for getting both bugs and Helldivers alike on the one mission I played.”
Another player, idk_my_life_is_weird, raved: “Napalm Barrage is amazing, the 3-minute cooldown is 100% justified, and all doubts were wiped out the moment I used it. I’m glad they gave us this. And, for once, I’m glad they attacked Phact Bay too, so we can use it even longer”.
