All avid players know that sometimes when they play the same game for a while, it might start losing its appeal. The tasks they once enjoyed start feeling like chores, and the small issues turn into huge annoying problems. If you feel like this, if the game is tiresome, you might be experiencing burnout. At that point, the Helldivers 2 community advises you to take a break.
Taking a Break Did Wonders for Some Helldivers 2 Players
One returning player, NotDavidM, shared their experiences and why taking a break from Helldivers 2 helped them enjoy the game more. This player stated: “I have roughly 250 hours on Helldivers 2, Nothing compared to some of you but still a lot that I racked up from release until May/June. Besides all of the drama, the game just started to burn me out”.
They continued: ” haven’t played in almost 2 months until last night and, Christ, divers, this game is so much fun still. If you’re feeling bored or like the game is repetitive please just take a break and come back. Your Warbonds will be there, you’re not missing anything.”
Fear of missing out is usually what drives the dedicated players to keep grinding. After a while, when you max out on everything, things might start feeling repetitive, and the bugs (not the Terminids) might become more frustrating.
One Redditor, a-soldout, added: “A lot of people expect this game to be endlessly fun and always challenging. But it’s a PvE game, at some point, you’ll have perfected your strategies against enemies and there will be no stronger opponents to beat until they release a new difficulty. Taking a break does wonders for game enjoyment”.
Helldivers Define What a Break Means to Them
Some Helldivers 2 players reminded the community that a break doesn’t have to be strict or defined. It should be a way for the player to take a step back and not over-fixate on the game. For some, that means not playing the game at all, for others it could mean focusing on other aspects of the game and maybe cutting down on the playing time.
Sin_the_Insane shared: “I have over 440 hrs in-game, but I play maybe two mission trips a night in Helldive with randoms. I don’t focus on the liberation rates anymore just the having fun and laughing at the stupid ways I end up dying. It’s been a lot more fun now instead of when I hardcore grinded when I first started the game”.
Sometimes, all it takes is lowering the pressure and laughing at something that might have frustrated you before, like bizarre deaths. Objectively funny, but when it happens to you it could ruin your day. Especially now, with both the bot and the bug front compromised, we get that taking things lightheartedly can be hard. Find what works for you.
If you decide to take a full break, this wonderful community will welcome you with open hands. Remember, there’s a lot to look forward to, the Escalation of Freedom update drops on July 6, so you can expect many new additions by the time you return.
