It’s only natural that everyone has a different approach to strategies for different types of missions. Every player has their own idea of how to solve a problem the most efficiently. Recently, a disagreement shook up the Helldivers 2 community as the players couldn’t find common ground on the topic of using one particular Stratagem on Terminid Eradicate missions.
According to Some Helldivers, You Should Never Use This Stratagem on Terminid Eradicate Missions
One dedicated player took to Reddit to complain about other players using the Mortar Sentry on Terminid Eradicate missions. Little did they know, their complaint caused a huge divide in the community.
JProllz noted: “I hate when people use the Mortar Sentry on Terminid Elimination missions. The K-to-TK ratio is too imbalanced for me to tolerate. I want to have fun shooting the bugs not get stuck ragdolling and respawning because a Hunter/Leaper snuck up or something hefty survived the first shot but was fast enough to dodge the follow-up”.
This player gave lots of reasons that solidified their point of view. One of them was the size of the map, as the maps for these missions tend to be smaller. The desync between the breach spawn rate and the rate of fire of the Mortar Sentry was another reason.
Lots of players agreed. One of them, daddychainmail, stated: “Any weapon that kills you/team as much as your foes ain’t worth using. Swap it with the EMS Mortar if anything. At least then you’re slowing them down for good grouping”.
Far-Performance-5970 joked: “When I see mortars on bugs there are only two options. Either I leave cause one Mortar Sentry won’t do anything except create friendly fire. Or everyone uses Mortars. Mortars are all or nothing”.
Helldivers 2 Players Share The Opposing Point of View
Obviously, lots of players disagreed with the OP. Some Helldivers 2 players claimed that no one should tell them which Stratagem not to use in a Terminid Eradicate mission. No_Collar_5292 advised: “Everyone just lays flat in the center and calls in barrages on their location”.
One player, neverphate, explained why they were all the way for Mortar Sentry. They said: “This is one of two missions where it’s actually useful. Can’t use them on open maps with bugs, they will just die instantly. On eradicate it doesn’t matter if you die from Mortars or 380 Barrages. Anything will kill you due to map size, so the fastest way to win is to turn the map into literal hell”.
We always support diversity. As important as cooperation is, it would be kind of dull if everyone were to play the game in the same way. Of course, have some respect for your fellow soldier’s boundaries and try to find some common ground. If you find that small things like which Stratagem should players use in Terminid Eradicate missions annoy you, maybe take a small break before the Escalation of Freedom update. The community will gladly welcome you back.
