“Do Right by Helldivers” Pilestedt Shares an Insight Into Arrowhead’s Philosophy on Collabs in Helldivers 2

Even though the first-ever collab was followed by controversy, the fans were delighted by Arrowhead’s way of making it up to them. Thus, many players are looking forward to more crossovers in the future. However, too many collaborations might ruin the immersiveness of a game. So, Pilestedt, the CCO, shared some details on how Arrowhead plans on implementing collabs without using that true feeling of Helldivers 2.

Where Would You Draw the Line When Comes to Collabs in Helldivers 2?

Recently, social media has been overflowing with requests for more collabs. The majority of players would love to see their favorite games all mixed together. Still, some players realized that might be a slippery slope.

So, one player, lyndonguitar, asked the community for their opinion on where a line should be drawn so that Helldivers 2 wouldn’t turn into Fortnite. The community gladly debated their opinions and ideas, but what they didn’t expect was for the Arrowhead CCO to join the conversation.

Pilestedt went ahead and literally drew a line on the list of suggested collabs. Obviously, Killzone is acceptable, and so are Starship Troopers, Halo, and Warhammer 40k.

The CCO also shared Arrowhead’s core tenets. These are meant to prevent the game from straying too far from the “original inspiration”. The devs achieve this by avoiding IP dilution, being as authentic as possible, and having reviews often.

Pilestedt Shares Arrowhead’s Reassuring Philosophy

The Helldivers 2 CCO, Pilestedt, also shared that having too many collabs might even drive away some players. He explained the main philosophy of the devs in a lengthy comment.

He noted: “We are very conscious of this. Helldivers, and the Helldivers community, is what it is, because of what the game is. This could be true in the future as well in case of collabs, and something we have to navigate very carefully”.

The CCO added: “However, there’s always going to be some collateral damage when decisions are made when it comes to many million users. It just needs to be balanced in such a way where it’s a net positive for the community as a whole. But with that said, we can’t ignore the individual either”.

He concluded: “There is something to be said about the second tenet as you rightfully point out. It is intended to be subservient to the ‘Do right by Helldivers'”.

It’s quite refreshing that a company has this kind of philosophy. So, we look forward to finding out what Arrowhead has in store for Helldivers. In the meantime, the Squids are up to something and the players have to stop them. A Major Order is in progress, will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
