Collaborations are practically a staple of online games these days. Present in a lot of games, but mostly popularized by Fortnite, they are a way for devs to team up with other teams, franchises, or celebrities. And now, NetEase Games has announced that they are planning a collaboration of their own, albeit in a slightly different fashion. More specifically, Marvel Rivals is about to have a collab with a few other Marvel games: Marvel  Snap, Marvel Puzzle Quest, and Marvel Future Fight.

Marvel Rivals was released on December 6 and has taken the gaming scene by storm. It is not even a month old and we already got an announcement for a collaboration event. The first collab Marvel Rivals will have will happen on January 3, 2025, and it will be with a couple of older Marvel games: Marvel Snap, Marvel Puzzle Quest, and Marvel Future Fight

Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap is a collectible card game and the youngest of the three, released in 2022. Unexpectedly, it features Marvel characters as cards, who are fighting to control various locations. It was widely praised as one of the best digital Card Games of today, even beating Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering Online. Marvel Snap features an appropriately named Snap mechanic, which allows you to raise the stakes in the game, when you are sure of your victory or as a means to bluff your opponent, so we hope the collab with Marvel Rivals will add something along those lines.

Marvel Puzzle Quest

This one is more of a classic game but with a Marvel twist. Marvel Puzzle Quest, released in 2013, is your usual match-three type of casual game, but here you assemble your team of three heroes (or villains), each adding their abilities to the game. You can even level them up to unlock more powerful abilities. It even has fully developed players-versus-player tournaments.

Marvel Future Fight

Marvel Future Fight is an action role-playing game released in 2015, but only for mobiles, ie Andriod and iOS. You play as various characters in different storylines, fighting hordes of enemies in real time, with each character using their superpowers. You can even team up with other players, and create Alliances. On the other hand, there is a PvP Arena, if you want to test your mettle against other players.

The fans expect this will add a ton of new skins to the game. However, since all of these games have their own art style, the fans are hoping that the new Skins will still be appropriate for Marvel Rivals, ie, they won’t change the aesthetics too much. According to some leaks, each game will add a Spray and a Nameplate. There is no further info, but, if these items are all there is to it, we can expect to see a lot of disappointed players.

Marvel Rivals is still a pretty new game and has so much of its own (Marvel) content to work with. So it is great that the devs decided to team up with other Marvel games, rather than collaborating with completely different franchises so early.
