For a while now, there have been rumors of a third enemy faction joining the Second Galactic War. There’s no official news yet, but the players are getting antsy for some new content, preferably the new enemies. Even though Helldivers 2 players have been incredibly patient, they still love imagining all possible scenarios for the arrival of the long-requested third enemy faction, the Illuminate.
The Arrival of the Illuminate Should Be a Special Event
As you know, there’s been a lull when it comes to new content in Helldivers 2. Players are quite certain that could only mean one thing: the devs are working on something huge. The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is the Illuminate. Since the Helldivers 2 players have been preparing for the Illuminate for months, the only thing left to do is dream about their arrival.
One player, Fear_Sama, explained how this return of the Squids (the Illuminate) would have to be quite spectacular and epic. Many players agreed that there should be another Special Event to mark their arrival, like the one that wiped out Meridia.
The OP had an entire scenario developed for this special occasion. For one day only, the OP would love for the Illuminate to appear on both the bug and the bot front. They explained how it would be cool to be on a regular mission when dozens of alien ships appear overhead. The contact with Eagle-1 would be overridden by the Illuminate, and you could only hear the sound of their weapons on the ground.
The number of the enemies on the map starts rising, you fight until you understand that you’d be doomed if you stay. Once you extract, barely making it, something blood-curdling happens.
The OP noted: “Once you’re back on your ship, you see something you’ve never seen before. “Helldiver, we have a most grave matter to discuss”. Democracy Officer Nitsan stands in front of you after you exit Eagle-1. “The Illuminate have returned… And we need to return them to their graves.” His voice seems full of hate and pain as you both walk up to the Galactic war map”.
Helldivers 2 Players Share Their Dream Scenarios of Facing the Illuminate
As you may have expected, the community loved this scenario. The idea of fighting more than one enemy faction on the same planet has been around for a while. However, don’t get your hopes too high, as it might be technically impossible.
Of course, other players had other spectacular ideas. Nate_the_Great8_ suggested: “I hope they pour out of the black hole and we have to fend off a level 100 attack force beelining towards Super Earth. Since we would be facing a new faction, the community would be communicating at large once again trying to figure out the best way to kill new enemies. Also with the addition of the sense of urgency since they are heading towards Super Earth. It would make an epic week”.
Impressive-Diet838 added: “I think the one thing that would really get players’ attention would be to see multiple black holes open from onboard your destroyer above whichever planet you are on and have the Illuminate pull your super destroyer into the black hole with psionic energy. You are now on a random Illuminate-controlled planet in the southern part of the Galactic Map. You don’t dive in but rather spawn in your crashed super destroyer with one life, no stratagems, and one mission: rescue Eagle 1”.
Let’s be honest, we’d love to see any of these scenarios come to life. Still, the one thing we’d love to see the most is the arrival of the Illuminate to Helldivers 2. A grand entrance would be fantastic, but we’d be satisfied with them just showing up on the Galactic Map one day. Although, we’re sure the devs have bigger plans. In the meantime, a doozy of a Major Order is in progress, let’s tackle it together. For Liberty and Super Earth.
