Many players were looking forward to the first anniversary of Helldivers 2, the hype was almost palpable. However, the devs made quite a controversial decision and celebrated by gifting the new armor to the players and releasing the first episode of the Chronicles of J.O.E.L. Unfortunately, the Major Order that was released on the day failed to meet players’ expectations. So, naturally, some Helldivers 2 players want to intentionally fail the Major Order and let the Meridian Singularity wreak some chaos.
The Meridian Singularity Is on the Move
As you probably know, the current Major Order has the players fending off Squid attacks as fast as possible. This is so the Squids wouldn’t be able to collect Dark Energy and move the Meridian Singularity. Even though they had a strong start, it seems that Helldivers are slowly giving up the MO.
So far, Helldivers managed to fend off 5 attacks, out of 11 needed to complete the MO. At the time of writing this article, they have a little more than two days to fend off 6 more attacks, but it took them almost three days to successfully defend against 5 attacks.
Currently, around 37k players are online, but only around 15k are fighting on Shete, the planet under attack. So, if something doesn’t change, this MO is most likely doomed.
There have been plenty of posts online about letting the Meridian Singularity do its thing. They hope that would bring some new content. One player, Svarog, suggested: “Nah I’m thinking more like Meridia passing by Angel’s Venture turns it geologically unstable. It becomes the Devil’s Venture, an extremely geologically active planet with earthquakes and rivers of lava everywhere”.
There have been some leaks of the unreleased lava biome. And, we have to admit it would be interesting to see the devs choosing to add a biome over enemies. Still, this is highly unlikely to happen.
According to Helldivers 2 Community, Stopping the Singularity Will Bring New Content
Many Helldivers 2 players are asking the community to unite and stop the Meridian Singularity. Reportedly, only that would bring some new content. The idea is that the rest of the Illuminate roster has no interest in coming to this galaxy if the Singularity is already doing their job for them.
One player, 69Chandler, insisted: “STOP THE BLACKHOLE = NEW ENEMY + MORE CONTENT”. They added: “This intel was shared with the intention of informing Helldivers that: only by STOPPING the Meridia super black hole and completing this Major Order will we be getting more enemies and content”.
Now, historically speaking, the development of some storylines was postponed due to lost MOs. So, this might end up being true. However, since Arrowhead has been quiet about their plans, and everything Helldivers know about the future comes from leaks, there’s no way to know what’s actually going to happen. So, we suggest you take your Portable Hellbomb and join us on Shete, we’ll be doing the democratic thing. For Liberty and Super Earth.
